Showoff your SHORTY 12G SHOTTY (14" or under and Mods)!

McCoy,

I have not heard back from him so I will call him again this afternoon. I dont want to push my luck and ask him to join CGN. Do you mind if I send him your pictures ? From what I know yours looks good, your pistol grip hole looks perfect.. I have not seen the marked sling mount on any I have seen online but who knows if those are correct. My engraving looks nothing like yours ps.

Okay I just called Jim, he got sidetracked but will get back to it. He still needs to look up the SN. I received some good news, he said the pictures looked good, he thinks its a very early one. I date coded mine from the internet and I got a manufacture date of 1991 so this is confusing to me, I thought yours was a early one and mine was a late one. Can you post or PM me your SN, he said he would look it up at the same time as mine.

Okay that was short lived. Jim sent me this email today. Mine is a fake. I sent a email to the seller requesting a refund, we will see if he is ethical or not.

"I did a brief search for this serial number under the AOW "Witness Protection" Shotguns.
I could not find this serial number. Under closer inspection of your photographs, the engraving is not correct. On the choke, I cannot positively identify it from the photos. But we did not use any Win-chokes in the AOW WP870s. From the photo, the grip does not look correct. I suspect this is a copy. Also, it would be illegal for it to go into Canada registered as an AOW with ATF/NFA.

Sorry to have to tell you this.

Jim"

Well first he's completely wrong on that statement, AOW can be exported from the U.S. it's the US State dept who has the last word on this. I should know that since mine was sourced and bought from a very well known Class 3 dealer in the U.S a few years ago, and i can prove that.

Second, i've seen a few genuine WP870 and they all have Winchoke on them, plus 3 guns magazines that clearly says that they have winchoke on them

( SWAT magazine August 1984, Special Weapons magazine 1988, Tactical Life magazine May 2017 )

Are you sure you got the real Jim Wilson ? How did you get ahold of him btw ? since he's been out of the firearms business for years, he must be in his 70s today.

Also, for your information, 240 of WP870 were made by Wilson for the U,S. Marshals Service in the early 1980s, and only 50 (Fifty) WP870 were made to be sold as AOW to the public or other LE agencies, and all of those 50 guns made by Wilson were made in 1984.

My gun was made in 1984.

I dont know what to tell you, I contacted Jim Wilson at Wilson Arms Co. / Brunswick, Georgia.

Well here's the problem, Wilson Arms Co. doesn't exist anymore, went bankrupt in the early 90s, the building has been demolished long time ago.

Nice try buddy ! have a nice day.

Went to Tenda to get some ammo. Came home with a 12"bbl chrome lined, 3" chamber Churchill pump.
The action was very smooth right out of the box and the fit and finish is surprisingly VG.
Very light/handy and will make a great carry SG for blasting in the woods. For $240 I won't be concerned if it picked up a few scuff marks.
The only neg so far is shell lifter can snag my glove while loading. One reason why I prefer my Mossbergs......

Nicer forend on the newer models I see. ↑↑↑

I don't know what the previous gens had but the ergos on this one is actually very nice and I've always swore the Mossy corn cob was the only way to go.
The butt-stock of the Churchill is a little hollow sounding but I fixed that filling it with some foam.

Better late than never to the AR parts and rails all over an 870. It's for aliens.

And you can see I lost the short stock bolt that came with the chassis . I have a new one coming in the mail which will hopefully work.
