Titegroup Replacement

Sorry, I was confused.

P.S. Most of my accuracy problems are shooter related as well.

Can you describe your testing method for accuracy between the two powders? Did you use a Ransom rest?

Darrell over at the BE forum does a ton of testing and to date he believes that TG is one of the most, if not the most, accurate powders when used to load 9mm. Here's a very small sample of his data:

Interesting results on accuracy, this shows a dramatic difference between N320 and Tightgroup. I've only bothered to Ransom Rest my PPC loads at 50m. May have to do some more testing of my 9mm loads in my semi-autos :)

Since I didn't see anyone mention Clays then I will.
I burned thru about 15lbs of it and still like it under 124gn bullet. Softer shooting and cleaner burning than TG. Fills case more but meters a bit less well.

I find with my load for 124gr, my ES can be up to ~70fps with Clays, but with N320 or Titegroup, I can get consistently down to ~30fps. I can do even lower if I sort my brass and weigh my bullets.

And how does that affect your accuracy? Does better ES always equal better accuracy?

For IPSC loads, I usually just run a load that makes a consistent power factor. I load for 1060fps which gives me a comfortable 131.4 power factor. A 70fps swing could drop me down below minimum PF and that would suck at the chrono stage lol. If my loads are doing 1" groups at 10m, I'm happy.

For my PPC loads (38sp), there's a couple of strings with targets out at 25m and 50m so I work up loads using my ransom rest. I think my best load I worked up with Clays at 50m was 4" wide, and 7" high. If I recall, my ES on that load was ~60fps so I'm attributing the greater height difference to variances in bullet speed. I switched back to Bullseye and my best groups were a pretty symmetrical circle at just over 2" dia. For that load, I my ES was ~8fps and I was using Starline brass and weighed bullets.

If your looking for accuracy in 9mm, I found CFE pistol and CCI SPP to be the most accurate in my shadow.
