White blemishes on 'brand new' Colt Canada MRR 16

This. I don't know what to do now, I feel crappy. I saved up for a while to afford this rifle, and I don't feel good about it. Firearms Outlet Canada is never getting my business again.

Don't feel crappy, if it's cosmetic you still have an outstanding rifle. As for the defect, don't sweat it yet. You may have gotten the Middle Finger from our friends in Ajax, but you still have the Odell, and Colt Canada to speak to, in the end it's going to be Colt Canada who corrects the problem anyway.

As for can the Vendor refuse to take it back, if I'm not mistaken this is a provincial matter, and it all boils down to the item regarding your rights. In a nut shell though if you sell someone something it has to be able to fill its intended purpose, if it doesn't function properly I think they have to give a refund. I'm pretty sure they can show you the middle finger without The Man wagging his at them. In this case the spots won't prevent the rifle from putting lead down range. You can find the Regs online, Google Ontario consumer protection laws, or whatever, as I recall it was pretty clear.

I'm starting to wonder if some members on this site shoot their rifles while wearing white gloves.

It's a tool. Nut up and shoot it.
If I buy new tools or a new work truck, I expect it to new.
What I do with it after the fact is my business.

Not every one is in to crayon or basic training courses. But to each there own, live and let live..

Ive seen those guys at the range, They even take the slings off so it doesn't scratch their precious AR that they shoot sitting down...lol...

You still don’t get the fucing point?
It’s got nothing to do with what you do with it after you receive it.
Where do you draw the line?

My CC MRR 11 came with a flawless finish, but I got a chance to inspect it in person at Tenda when I bought it. It’s going to get scuffed up if you use it the way it was intended to be used. But its a very expensive, premium AR, I would expect it to be perfect and I’d be pissed if it wasn’t when I received it.

I expect my MRR to wear with hard use, that doesn’t bother me. But for the $2300 I paid for it, I expect it to be perfect so I can have the privilege, which I paid for, of trashing the finish.

The butthurt white glove crowd is hilarious to watch.

You paid that premium for one of the best-made ARs on the planet. The amount of QC, inspections and tight tolerances that went into that CC rifle put other brands to shame. Very, very few rifle makers go through that level of QC inspection or attention to detail. You're paying for the sweat they put into the INSIDE of the rifle, not so much the outside. Those don't look like blemishes to me at all. Like others have said, put your effort into shooting the thing. Get some training, take a class or two. Put some honest wear on that blaster.

If you aren't happy with it, I'll give you $100 for it.

Do you work for Colt Canada? Do you know that for a fact? I’ve seen 4 different new MRRs up close, they all had flawless finishes as I would demand for a $2000 AR. You said it yourself, the MRR has a high level of QC inspection. If that was my rifle, I’d wonder what else was missed in QC or if it was a used rifle. For what the OP paid for that rifle, if he’s not happy with it, I wouldn’t give the retailer, distributor or manufacturer a pass on it either.

When I pay a premium to buy new, I expect perfection. That has noting to do with how I use it after the fact or how wore out I make it look like after years of service.

I would only buy beat up used if I wanted someone else's beat up junk looking stuff to play with, when I make the damage and marks, then it is mine/a part of me.

This.

I side with the group that says what you pay for with a CC is the quality of the materials, processes and QC of one of the best AR’s you can buy, not so much the cosmetic perfection that some might expect.

If it were me I would just use it, won’t be able to see those white marks as it gets wear on it. However I do understand why someone might be upset if they weren’t ever really planning to use the rifle that hard and in 10 years would still have a pristine bench queen. I don’t have a problem with that, it’s your rifle, do as you please.

I’m betting CC will make it right for you. I’m kinda surprised by FOC response but I think it depends who you talk to, I had a issue with something that was 100% percent their fault and the first guy I spoke with didn’t really seem to care. However the next guy who seemed like a manager or maybe a owner was great and went out of his way to get the issue resolved over and above. Might be worth trying FOC again if your so inclined.
