Or catch it sooner, just like a bad flu, and get immunized. It's really not an Ebola-grade virus...

Other option is to live your life as usual, and call it a day. Once again, it's not an Ebola-grade virus...

Yep, it ain't Ebola grade, it's Spanish Flu grade which took out 50 million in 1918. This new "weapon" may do in substantially more people in short order and crash Global markets to boot. Sick, crazy times we be in. :(

I'm not aware of any study that suggests similar virulence to the Spanish flu. May I ask where you got that from?

Come on, calling it a "weapon" is just plain FUD. The 50 millions spanish flu number is rather controversial, the latest estimates are around 17 millions. Not to mention the symptoms themselves were often mistreated as dengue, cholera, or typhoid, not as mild as this spread. Also, recent studies have lowered the death toll to ~1.5%. You're really not helping...

My wife and I were talking about the news this morning about how the Federal Health Minister said to "Stockpile" supplies a couple days ago, so of course that along with social media over blowing things apparently makes for empty shelves in the stores.

Hand sanitizer in short supply!! (And with inflated costs! After all, now is the time to price gouge!)

I didn't by any sanitizer. I didn't by any canned goods. Heck, I don't even have a full tank of petro.

I told my wife not to worry though, the one thing I DO have is a LOT of ammunition!! :D

And in the end when it all turns to ####.... it isn't the guy with the most "gold" who wins (or the most hand sanitizer)...

The one who wins is the guy with the most ammo! :) LOL

Oh man, I laughed so hard when I read that, I peed a little!

With how long a person can be contagious without symptoms, how long the virus can live on surfaces, and how easily transmitted the virus can be, it could be worse than Spanish flu possibly. Modern medicine means nothing if the medical system is overwhelmed. The death rate would skyrocket to near 1/5 if the hospitals cant handle it. And our medical system is near capacity on a good day.

One big difference today concerning Spanish flu is 100 years ago world travel was extremely limited compared to today. Literally 1000's of flights a day ##### crossing the globe. 4000/day left China for several weeks up to a point.

I dont know what you need all that TP for anyway?
If you dont have 2 years worth of food you wont need to $hit that much lol

And we make TP here in Canada....not China lol

On sunday when we were grocery shopping at 2 stores we noticed that there were no Bananas left. Really weird as they come from Central America. Has anyone noticed this in their town?

We are going to try to buy what ever we can, however since many distributors also have a retail side, they may hold back allot for their sales.

Currently in Saskatoon the wholesale had lots of everything for now including bananas
The only thing they said was sanitizer which no one has.
I saw a Hutterite fella ? buying 10x48 rolls TP plus canned soups and other items as well as disinfectant....

Western Societies, pretty much all of them, have become very fragile.

In part a victim of our own success, but there is more to it. There is no will or desire to impart on people, especially of school age, some of the hard lessons our ancestors learned.

Many people reach Adulthood largely unprepared for just life in general, let alone a serious emergency.

Whether now, or some point in the future, we will be tested and found wanting.

Hard times create strong men
Strong men create good times
Good times create weak men
Weak men create hard times

The cycle of society

My wife won’t let me kill any of the squirrels that forced their way into my garage and chewed up my goose decoys. I know what I’m eating if food supply is limited. There’s enough squirrel meat in my part of the city to feed a small village.

No products to sell ..Then less taxes collected..Less of everything with a bigger defecit..
Someone tell me I'm wrong

No, you're not wrong. In fact, it's even worse. The Lie-beral environmental policies assured the biggest flight of capital for natural resources development projects in Canadian history and with that, went the revenue, profits, consequential revenues from off shoot employment and so on. Next is tourism industry, they will be hit hard. To make things worse, today the BOC lowered its key interest rate by 0.5% and by doing so, it punishes savers but worse, it will decimate pension funds that have been in a bad shape already, now it will get worse. We are economically crashing and within some 6 months we will feel it, some provinces such as Alberta and Saskatchewan have been feeling it for years now. I wish we only had economic illiterates in our federal government because it's far worse, we have economic degenerates at the wheel.

Considering the hardest hit are 60+... They may be banking on not having to pay out on many of those pensions at all.

We've always tried to keep our pantry full... but are now putting aside a few extra here and there.

Feels a bit like it's starting to rain though.... and they say Noah started building the ark well before the rain.....
