I'm looking for a nice rifle that I can carry in the thick stuff but that can also reach out to 200 yards if need be on coyote. I had a CZ527 in Hornet and that was ok but I didn't like how high the rings needed to be to clear the bolt. I had a BRNO Fox and it was disappointing but that was because I grew up shooting a BRNO 465 and there was a huge difference in quality. All that being said is there another rifle that is similar to those mentioned. A smaller rifle around 6 pounds. LOP around 13 something thats nice to carry. I see a member has a Remington BDL for sale but I have two already in 8x57 and .35 Whelen and they are not small rifles similar to the BRNO.

I had a pretty sweet stainless t3 in 222 that put as many bullets as you liked in the same hole. If blued steel and walnut is more up your alley then sako vixens come up on the EE fairly often.

Budget?
If a tikka t3 wasn't acceptable. I'd probably just grab a Remington model Seven .223 Remington. An older used one for cheap may be worth rebarreling to .222 if that is truly a requirement to you. Myself I'd live with it as a .223 and enjoy it. If you have the jingle in your pocket, there is no reason not to get an action and stock that you like mated to a barrel that is twisted, chambered and throated to achieve your desired goals.

I've had a Couple of Rem M7's in 223 and they are a Sweet little Rifle - They did make the M7 in 222 BUT they are Very Rare ! Anyhow the 223 can do and do it better then the 222.

I do have a 1967 M700 222 BUT it has a 24 " std weight barrel - even if i loped it off at 18.5 " and recrowned - it would still be quite a bit heavier then a M7 is - RJ

Husqvarna 2001 (Krico Action) in 222 Rem. Trade Ex as a couple. Has anyone handled one of these? Is it similar to the Brno or more like what the Model 7 is to the Model 700?

Ruger American Ranch in .223 would probably be the one too...small, light, accurate, can install a flash hider and a scope, takes AR-15 mags.

Rem 600/660 arnt as nice as some others mentioned in my mind but are nice and short overall to carry and plenty accurate out to 200yrds. Blind mag sucks at times but still love my 600 in 222, especially out west in the gopher patch. A fox has been on my need list for a bit which I'll not be too bothered if it's a hornet even

Guys, I'm trying to stay with the 222 or even the hornet as I have the dies and I sometimes shoot in a built up area. If I didn't care I'd use my 95 hp load in my Swede and smoke coyotes that way.

Sako vixen be my first choice,
There is a Cooper model 51 in .222 in the buy and sell, think is about the cost of a new Sako.
I like the CZ 527, but the mag sticking down, doesn't make for a great carry rifle, same reason the Sako, won out, over the Bruno fox, for my culling rifle 30 years ago.
