PAL Wait Time

Ontario PAL/RPAL Timeline

Received by Miramichi February 17, 2020
Credit Card Charged & showed up online March 5, 2020
Application processed, license has been issued March 16, 2020

Took exactly 28 days, and to think 2 weeks ago I was here complaining why it hadn't shown up online yet.
They never called my references, but I did use both of my parents as my references, so that may have helped.

Are we the same person? LOL

I had basically the same experience. It took a couple weeks to show up online. I was checking every day to no avail. Then I recall reading something about a mandatory 28 day waiting period.

My application was received in Miramichi on February 18. Today, exactly 28 days later it says my application has been processed and my license has been issued.

Now, is my application number the same as my license number? Can I call in to obtain my license number?

Looking to make some online purchases and would like to get the ball rolling as I’m sure it can be a process. Thanks

You can call back and ask for your licence number and expiry date (needed to make online purchases, some sites ask you to send a picture of your licence so be prepared for that..)

I was able to get the ball rolling to buy a pistol when I obtained my licence # and expiry date over the phone by going into my gun dealer and paying for it in full - they started my transfer which synced up with the time my licence arrived in the mail.

Some may not get as lucky as I did - but be cautious.

p.s. wash your hands.

Here's my timeline and I'm also from Ontario.
Sent it out express shipping
January 23rd
RCMP Received it January 27th
Took payment February 4th
initial processing has been completed Feb 5th
It's March 17th and I haven't had a call from then nor has my references. Still waiting on day 50. Now website says longer wait times because of the virus !

Just got off the phone with the CFP information line. I had phoned yesterday during business hours but got an automated message saying the office is as closed and to call back during business hours which I thought was odd.

Info officer told me the Miramichi office is closed due to the coronavirus so they are working remotely. He told me it could be weeks or months before they start processing applications again and to check back at the end of April for more information.

Just great! they received mine in December and been waiting since. Meanwhile us private sector slaves still have to work from home to earn a living

I wouldn’t call myself lucky yet. Someone a few pages back said they ship the licenses out on Fridays, if he’s right, that means my license is now stuck there and I’ll have to wait with the rest of y’all. Even if they did somehow ship out my license before they closed, all of the guns I wanted to purchase are restricted, so how am I going to get a transfer now? It may look like I’m lucky now, but in a few years I’ll look back and laugh at how unlucky these circumstances were. Yesterday I was so happy and ecstatic, I thought the stress and waiting was over. 24 hours later, I’m back to stressing and waiting.

Congratulations man, I hope they shipped out our licenses before they shut down lol. I can’t help you with your question unfortunately, I’m wondering what I should do myself, but I think you can get your license number if the CFO is still open and answering calls.

Has anyone ever had any luck calling the CFO and asking for a supervisor? I asked for the extension/contact info of the officer in charge of my file (as I was advised to do by other users) and was told they would not provide that info

I've been waiting 14mo for my license to clear the final stage by the AFO.

I literally call the man every day and he doesn't answer or return calls, so I'm assuming that the "pandemic" will exacerbate the situation. Fml

Does anyone have any experience in calling their provincial CFO to obtain their license number? With the significant dealt in license production, I’d like to get my license so I can get the ball rolling. Make a couple purchases on Gotenda.

How far ahead of the expiry date are people sending in their rpal renewals. Mine expires in sept 2020. Does it matter if i just send it in way early?

Update got my new rpal last week so approx 4 weeks from submitting my online application to getting it in the mail. In that time manitoba cfo asked me for proof of range membership which i faxed to them the day after i got the letter. Im glad i renewed so early.

Anyone got their license in the mail recently? My application was approved last monday and still hasn’t arrived. I’m worried they shut down before they printed/shipped my license.

Generally the licences are sent out on Fridays so I think you might be out of luck. I called last tuesday to ask if they were still operating and I was told that the main office was closed.

I've read some of the timelines here, someone had his application approved on a Saturday, and got it in the mail 5 days later on a Thursday. Another guy had his application approved on a Monday, and got it in the mail the next Monday (theres no way it would have arrived that early if they shipped it out on Friday). Those are just 2 examples out of many. You could say they shipped them before they approved their license, but that would mean they must have shipped mine before as well. Either way, the RCMP clearly needs to be more precise. Their website says my license has been issued, they shouldn't be telling me that if they were planning on shipping it 5 days later.

This Friday thing about sending licenses, where is this detail coming from? Is this something you heard directly from the CFO’s office?

I sent in my application, which arrived in Miramichi on or around March 12th. Can't seem to get through on the phone to them as their office is shut and my application status still hasn't appeared online. Any advice? Anyone send theirs in around that time and have an online status?
