The model 7 I have has 2 holes on the rear bridge, if that's the right term, about 0.500" spacing. The 700 has a rear spacing 0.800" approx. The bases are no where near similar. Maybe you can run the xs sight with 1 screw? I did email them in January but no answer yet

XS has a Single pin-screw in peep sight that works on the M7 look at DG's POST ! RJ

The original Model 7 only had one hole on the rear bridge and my Model 7 Custom Shop Mannlicher only has the one.

I bought a Model 7 .243 in 1983, mail order from LeBaron in Montreal. I shot some coyotes with it and then sold it to the late Barry Mitchell, a well known outdoorsman who published the yearly Alberta Fishing Guide. I think he gave the .243 to his son. The last time I ran into Barry I was with my brother fly fishing for Brown Trout on Stauffer Creek in west central Alberta and Barry suddenly came wading downstream shooting Beavers with a shotgun.

Thanks, I knew they changed them somewhere along the way. I got a used one a few months ago, from 2004 if i got the dates right. Great tribute to your friend and a great memory you've shared.

IIRC ........ The two hole/rear bridge is a later factory spec on the Model Sevens, so to add one hole is hardly a bubba alteration.

Not drilling holes in a brand new Remington Custom Shop Model 7 Mannlicher.
There are several scope bases available for the original three hole set up.

Yup But its fine to just use the one only rear - i have for years on M7 s with talley rings too never knocked one off Yet DNZ makes a nice light one with a joiner bridge between the F & R rings - I have one of those too !

End of my Remington story. I sold the Remington "Mannlicher"...for no other reason than it was a Remington. I just couldn't warm up to that action. Too many years with Mausers, I guess.

I too prefer the Mauser actions to all others. I own over a dozen Mauser actioned hunting rifles. I own a few Remington's too, but like you, I believe Mauser got it perfect, and I prefer them greatly.

Looks like its the other way around here. Going back to a Remington. Seems this season's rifle may be a stainless SPS in 7mm-08.

Got a hankering to build one in 6.5x55 or 7x57 though.
