Just got the flyer in the paper and I see that Cabelas has the SKS [ chinese ] on sale [ $219.00 ] with free shipping. I ordered one and was $260.00 to my door. Any one else ever get one from them? I hope I do not get a crappy one. thanx.

They tried selling me one with a broken stock. Not cracked, broken. But it's still worth the gamble. A lot of rifle for $260. Good truck/camp rifles.

Hit and miss when buying online. Better if you can go in store and inspect them yourselves, or you'll just end up getting whatever crap they want to give you.

End of last year they had them on for same price and I know I had to inspect four or five before I came across two I deemed acceptable. The lady behind the counter wasn't impressed I was taking so long (or even stripping them for that matter) but, like, you wouldn't buy a used car without checking out under the hood, right?

i got one online last year, was 190 on sale they jumped the priced due to this pandemic buy. it was brand new rifle in cosmoline. stock had some dings. i would say 9/10 condition.

$190 was a good price..online some will come rusty and even if you can't see rust ?? your gas tube hidden by the wood hand guard will be pitted.
These were used in the field $260 TMD ?? to pricey

This.

Betting if a fella puts a WTB up in the EE they can snag a rifle for that or not much more with way less risk.

You see it ahead of time, can ask questions etc...Would not be pleased to buy a dog for $260 under the Cabelas "its surplus lol" conditions.

Picking in person would be cool though.

I managed to get a look at several. None of them were brand new. All are full of cosmoline. Some are VG to EXC, all were issued then put into long term storage. I didn't see any broken stocks. All of the rifles I looked at, had appropriate repairs done before getting dipped.

You will get what you pay for, don't expect more.

When the person from Cabela's distribution, gets your order, he/she will grab the first rifle their hand falls on, put it in a cardboard box, attach a shipping label and send it out.

If the store will let you pick and choose, go for it. Bring along a cleaning rod with lots of patches to push the cosmo out of the bore. Not all of them have chrome plated bores.

All of the rifles I looked at were shootable and at least Field Grade. Most were on the high end of Field Grade.

OP, if you want a high end SKS or one that's been FTRed, bite the bullet and spend the extra money to get what you want. We're not talking huge dollars here.

Went to Cabelas Calgary and asked to grab a random one in person month ago when they were on sale for $189.00 and got a good one.

Hit and miss.

I've bought several on line and ..really can't complain.
The one jungle stock stock I got.. looks like it has some bedding and won't fit other actions...
One bad wood stock not split just worn out...
Having more then one and a after market stock seems to work well

Just looking to have it in the box on the back of the wheeler. I do not need anything fancy here in the booners of N.B. Gonna pull it apart and re do the stock for something to do. I would like to know if there are better deals [ to the door ] if you gun maniacs know of any tho. thanx.

Cabelas is hard to beat, especially when their weekly sales is on.

A $200 dollar cabelas sks usually gains value in the EE. There’s one for $425 right now.

If you use the code "LEGENDARY" the shipping is free less the oversize charge.

Seem like more fun and a better investment than lottery tickets.

I ordered one last year and it was a junker. Mix master and it came without a front and rear sight! Contacted cabelas about the missing sights and they more or less told me to get lost. Buyer beware

I got one by picking it up in person at Cabelas last year, and got a good one. Lots of cosmoline on the inside.

I may go pick up a second since Cabelas is actually close to me physically, provided they have a good one kicking around.
