A statement that needs to be made.

Too true!! The RCMP uniform/car ruse was the real X-factor in this dickheads rampage... Even if you lived in a place with legal ccw, the whole citizen hero scenario gets a lot more complicated when the "bad guy" is indistinguishable from a cop...

Yup, which is why rational, safe, law abiding firearm sport shooters are f#####..........the average at home citizen casually watching tv while making breakfast will take an instant position.......instantly.

You won't change it.....not with protests or advocatsy donations.

The game is over.

Australia and New Zealand happened.....thats real.

And both their leaders were more admirable than our fancy prince. I would dearly love to have 2 min alone with that putrid sycophant.

Time to go really quiet.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! All free men of this land take heed! The King has a declaration!
Another man has run amok and has killed unarmed people with his sword.
For that reason, all men shall lay down their swords immediately and bring them in to be destroyed.
Only the King and his trusty men shall possess swords from this day forward.
The King has spoken!!!

This statement will not sit well with some people, but it needs to be said.

The world has lived through some devastating atrocities. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say our hearts go out to the families and people that were affected by these heinous crimes.

You will never be able to stop the premeditated evil that some people are capable of. This unhinged individual was very calculated in his attack, it took time and considerable planning to execute. This individual had no remorse for his actions and no regard for life including his own.

It is not the firearms, storage laws or the magazine capacity restrictions that will stop atrocities like this.

As harsh as it is, people like that are broken, they need to be put down, plain and simple.

The world can be a cruel place and unfortunately some people are unable to cope and conform to societies rules.

You will never be able to stop the alcoholic who gets behind the wheel, no different then you can stop people who commit these atrocities when they have no regard for human life.

As much as I wish I had the answer that would fix the problem, I don’t. Although, I can state with great certainty that more firearm legislation will not stop these types of crimes.

The ultimate problem is people.

Truth. But writing it here thousands of times does nothing for our cause.

The only way to bring that truth home to the public at large is for the gun community to mobilize and show the way by example.

Instead we reinforce our negative image by obsessing with protecting our guns.

The USA is showing us the way and we are blind to their leadership.

"........... advocacy donations" won't work. You are correct.

But mainly that is because we will never try the third way in a large enough or consistent manner to make a meaningful difference in that "instant decision".

Perhaps you can tell me what we have ever done for the public to see us for anything other than self obsessed weekend warriors?

It's interesting that Australia and New Zealand are real when some posters here stated it could never happen.

They even had the numbers and the hopeful predictions to back that up.

Turns out that they were mostly wrong.

I for one don't want the state to have the power to kill citizens. The state is extremely fallible, and has no accountability.
That said, if this fuk was confronted by a citizen with a gun, and that ended it before it really got going, I'd be ok with that.
Me to..

Well said IRUNGUNS, and might I add...

For some reason I really don't think any level of punishment would stop people like this. This guy and many like him have their end game already planned which includes being killed or killing themselves. Capital punishment would not have prevented this tragedy from occurring.

Resources, Clinical determination, The shear will, A degree of intellect, and Planning?! how do you legislate against that?. The whole thing could have started with a slingshot bought at Canadian tire and a ball bearing, after that level up to pistol and shotgun. Its not hard to disarm. The absolute will to do it.. now thats something else. Also that scum bag Timothy Mcveigh killed 160+ people and dented the earth with a van and fertilizer. Also Aloha snack baaaars blow up 30-40 every time with bathtub Semtex, and a 5.11 tac vest. Also in England the doctors stitch up more people than Japanese ### doll manufacturers.

I get the arguments from the anti side, I mean a Pmag can be "dropped" and the rivet falls out and then you have a 30 rounder. No need for that in normal society. Ever. Cool to have, and I love them, but really no need for a civilian to have a 30 round mag outside of competition especially in the city. I mean they are pointless in normal every day civilized not Syria living. You can't even argue the self defence thing. Also in a red dawn situation we'd be conducting
asymmetrical warfare at first, so something that holds 5 rounds would do fine. Acquiring the enemies rifles next. I guess limiting the amount of mags a person can have is middle ground.

I also get the argument of not keeping them (carbines) in residences, I mean outside of the odd cuddle what are you going to do with it?, the idea of it being legislated that I keep my carbine at the range or club I'm part of is ok with me. I mean, ranges have storage, and storing your rifle there would be a great way to support the business, the ability to take to other ranges, gun smiths, or even to take home to run drills or some new thing you learned for XYZ days, but rifles being primarily kept at ranges is a decent middle ground i feel. If shooter doesn't return it XYZ days Police are notified and fines get levied.

What I will say is this: The government can't take away my knowledge, the skill i have acquired or the ability to operate a carbine. And I will continue to develop the skill even with one of those blue mock rifles if i have to. Many patriots have trained with a crooked stick and imagination.

But a middle ground has to be found, you can't seize peoples property, and not allowing your populace to practice the art of self defence is a mistake.

Sorry man, if YOU can’t be trusted to keep your carbine and mags locked up, then YOU should give your guns and gear away to someone responsible. Central storage will not work. I trust myself with my guns more than I trust the guys running the range. Give your rights away once and you’ll never get them back.

I agree our range is an outdoor one there is zero storage and what a great way for criminals to “stock” up break into one range get enough equipment to arm a battalion #♂️ Probably some really nice stuff to!

Bingo. I have two range memberships. One of the ranges is up north and the club is isolated from civilization. Criminals would have all the privacy and time in the world to pull off their heist. When I shoot there I'm rarely joined by other members. The staff running my other range act like a bunch of hyenas when they have their staff shoot-offs. Wouldn't trust them with my property.

I agree 100%.
What happened is an absolute nightmare, that demon who committed these atrocities got off way to easy with death.
It was a planned out attack no doubt, what is worse could you imagine people seeing an RCMP officer coming toward them only to be killed by him without warning? This would be very confusing even if we here in Canada were allowed to carry guns. This man was an evil man with evil intention, chances are he is rotting in hell now for eternity so rest easy knowing he will be eternally punished for his heinous crimes.

My heart goes out to all hose affected by this monster.

Now the fight to keep our firearms...............

Our sincere condolences go out to the families of this senseless act. "RIP" to the fallen.
BUT... I say and still believe, with profound conviction, that conceal/carry, open/carry, would have stopped this madman long before it got to this end...
To the responsible citizens...
