Leslyn lewis, she said tell the UN to pound sand, she was the first to condemned the ban. Erin O'Toole is my second choice for the military background. Mckays wife is bat#### crazy and he's a red Tory so he's a no for me.

I'm starting to gravitate towards Lewis. Knowing how eastern Canada loves optics, she would seem to be an asset....but can she fight ? Is she hungry enough to win nationally ? Same goes for O Toole.

I think women and visible minorities would love to vote the first Black Woman as PM. Its only white progressives that are overly consumed by racist bs. Lots of people are religious and trust moral people even if they do not believe in it. Also I have to add that it is only the Liberal Propaganda Machine that is pretending that Harper was a monster. He never once brought up abortion or tried to prevent it. He just believed that everyone that was in his party deserved a voice because they were duly elected representatives of their ridings. It is the Liberals that believe that their members must not represent their constituents and must adhere to JT and the Death Eaters.. I meant Privy Council directives.

I like Lewis. She is educated and a Lawyer so she understands the law and how to critically think through situations. She will be able to work both sides of a problem because that's what Lawyers are trained to do.

If Conservatives want to show the rest of Canada that they are not Racists, than making Lewis our CPC leader will dispel that idea for good. They will still call us homophobes but they will look like idiots and racists themselves doing it.

I enjoyed your response, I do agree, but I find it difficult to believe that the balance of constituents versus party will matter in a general election... Only in a few select ridings have I seen it matter.

All valid points and our society is adapting with social norms that changes how people behave and interact. I don't know how a party can survive with out dated opinions or the without the seperation of church and state. A lot of people are highly educated in urban and rural areas and have the time to think about the actual reprecussions of decisions versus just a black and white answer.

Everyone loves Ford right now, hes absolutely killing it in the polls.

The only hope is that Ford vacates his post and runs for the CPC leadership.

Have you actually read leftist peoples comments?

They all basically say stuff like:

"I am shocked that Ford is acting like a human being"

or

"I am very happy with his performance, but..."

None of the people on the left will vote for Ford in the next election. These are the same scumbags that treated him like a leaper and made Conservatives hide Ford during the Trudeau debacle.

I like Ford and voted for the guy, but the very people that were in the streets protesting him at the beginning of the Pandemic will also be the same one's calling him garbage next year.

They like him as long as Ontario is locked down tighter than a prison. As soon as Ford makes the move to save Ontario from finanicial ruin and open the province, they will be calling him an evil corporate sellout.

And you think people like anti-abortion activist Lewis is a good choice? Ford is infinitely better than any of the others.

I think that strategically, Dr. Leslyn Lewis is the best hope for the CPC to form the next government. Her platform seems good and even if to me it shouldn't be a factor, because she is a black woman it will most likely draw votes from the people who vote, how would I say it... superficially (most people...) It would be pretty hard for the LIEberals and media to call her mysogynist, racist or ###ist... Just my 0.02$

It will be interesting. I think being militantly anti-choice is campaign suicide, but.....

the GTA is crucial for a win. Quebec is crucial for a win.

GTA - lots of first-gen immigrants who are socially conservative Muslims, Hindus, and conservative Christians and identify with a brown/black person. Lots of Afro/Carib voters.

Quebec - Catholic-a-lama-ding-dong

Could she be an upset? Stranger things have happened.

Honestly I think that you are being rather ignorant to Christians. Do not believe the Liberal Propaganda Machine that says Christians are outdated racists but love other archaic religions. Its a joke and a misdirection.

I am not religious but I would vote for a God fearing person over a socialist nutjob 100% of the time.

If the CPC chooses a white dude over black woman to lead, then the Liberals will be able to say: "SEE HOW RACIST THEY ARE? THE SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES WOULD RATHER HAVE A WHITE MAN CENTRIST THAN A BLACK WOMAN BELIEVER."

Do not think that for one instance that the Liberals will let that slide. Vote for Lewis and prove we are not racists and get call a homophobe or Vote a white guy and get called a racist and homophobe.

I hadn't heard of Lewis until seeing this thread. She has my vote. Her policies are listed on her website...

h ttps://www.leslynlewis.ca/policies

Quoted from this page:
"I am tired of seeing the Liberals use the phrase “hidden agenda” to attack Conservative politicians on things they don’t intend to do.

In the last election this was used successfully on life issues. I want to be upfront on the four specific pro-life policies I would advocate for so we can be clear with Canadians.

My policies focus on helping and protecting vulnerable women and girls:

Ban the misogynistic practice of ###-selective abortion.
Seek measures to protect women from coerced abortions.
Increase support for pregnancy care centres - to make sure that women in a crisis pregnancy have the help they need and deserve.
End funding for international abortions and focusing our foreign aid to promote overall healthcare - a policy that was broadly supported under Stephen Harper’s leadership.

I believe we need to be clear about our position on this issue and I have been very specific about what steps I would take as a leader.

The only way to avoid being accused of having a hidden agenda is by not hiding it!"

Same thing that sunk Scheer in the election. Guess I'll be watching pretty boy another 5 years if she wins. It boggles my mind that this isn't obvious to all. To win, concessions will have to be made. A step at a time. A more centrist approach.

And you think people like anti-abortion activist Lewis is a good choice? Ford is infinitely better than any of the others.

The Left will hate everyone put up for the CPC leadership, but..

Lewis is a highly educated black woman and lawyer, who just happens to believe in her God. This will play well even in Quebec where a large percentage of the rural population are progressive but religious. They think Ford is like Trump.

Lewis is a win/win for the CPC. She will protect the social conservatives but she has the critical thinking chops to be able to see other points of view.

FYI: Doug Ford will not be leaving his job as Premier of Ontario in the middle of a Pandemic, just to run and hope people will vote for him. Stop pushing a non-starter and an obvious political disaster because of the Power hungry optics it would create.

I believe that it is impossible for another socially conservative CPC member to be elected except Lewis. And just being an educated black female Lawyer will put many progressives minds at ease because they can say they voted for the first Black Female PM.

Everyone this is the best option for all CPC members and Canadians in General.

Put Lewis's sign on your lawn if you want to keep your guns and be proud of being Christian.

"let me make myself clear: I will not support any motion to limit any Canadian's right to abortion. I support a woman's right to choose".

^this is what she needs to say. This is how clear her statement must be. She is basically already saying it in a roundabout way in order to not put-off hard-line conservatives. But this (or anything else as vague) will be distorted by the usual suspects.

I know this isn't palatable for those of you who are anti-choice, but you need to suck it up for now. Anti-choice is a campaign-ender.

This is good writting. Thanks.

We need a list of all CPC that are not standing up against Justine the turd and Blair, those that are not need to go and be kicked out of office, Canadians do not understand just how bad these kind of draconian laws are and we need to understand that we do live in a police state and the Freedom Charter has no teeth in it, especially when two such insidious vile leaders can simply legislate your personal rights and freedoms away with a stroke of a pen or a yea vote in a private closed door meeting, this is not democratic freedom, this is Nazi style socialism and rights depriving garbage like Trudeau and anyone else that thinks like this pig need to go.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

We have had the elites promote Scheer. A big fail. Now the backroom elites and media promote McKay or O'Toole. Another big fail.

Even if an elite choice is nominated again...................expect another big fail.

I do not believe a traditional conservative party will ever win another Canadian majority.

I like Leslyn Lewis based not the color of her skin or gender but because of the platform and message.

I think she is a straight shooter and we need a hail mary. We need a miracle from God.

Your typical white male candidate is always branded a racist and a ###ist by the corrupt media.

Well they can't do that to Lewis.

Update:

After having posted something similar on other threads and getting some good rebuttals, I am rethinking this.

I did a little research on Scarborough. Looks like it has been a liberal stronghold for years with a little glitch in 20011.

Looking at the six ridings there and the demographics and their voting tendencies it does not look good for ANY conservative leader.

Not sure about the rest of GTA, but if it is anything like Scarborough, it would take something quite profound for people to switch.

After the last election, my thought has been that with the voting patterns of new immigrants (250-300,000 new each year) it is possible that conservatives will never again form a majority government in Canada unless there is some kind of miracle.

Ford's endorsement is far more valuable than his candidacy would be. And a lot of people (including me) would be quick to call him out for stepping down during a crisis, no matter the motivation.

“Hey guys, why don’t me make a liberal party but with guns”

SMH

I definitely agree with you on some of your points, the government has no business involving itself in anyone's marriage choices and by providing LGBTQ with standing may get them to stop being so militant and stop shoving it down everyone's throats, but financial support of abortion by the government using tax $$$ is not on, it violates the rights of far to many conscientious objectors who also have a very strong view point on the right to life. As to the rest, the CPC have no clue on how to market their brand or how to make it successful, they are a bunch of blind fools blundering around in the dark, they don't know how to make themselves and inclusive brand even though it is so dang easy.
