The top RCMP in this country still think we have Firearms Acquisition Certificates ( FAC ), not Possession Acquisition Licences ( PAL ).

If the RCMP do not even know what the laws are, don't expect the Liberals to know what a choke of a shotgun is.

Hopefully the ban will fall short if the liberals can't pass a bill in parliament that contains a buyback program. They would either be forced to keep all firearms as prohibs & in the hands of their owners, or they'd be forced to withdraw the OIC. I also can't see where they would get the money to do a buyback after all the billions that are being spent on covid relief. TURDeau may have shot himself in the foot. Only time will tell.

Wait what?? I thought there WAS a legal definition? Isn’t that what you are all yelling about? A lawyer said bore was the widest diameter of the barrel so that was the law!!

I’m awake. I’m not happy. But you guys aren’t helping. Stop the fear mongering. Band together. Elect a strong CPC leader with a legitimate chance to win. That’s the only chance we have.

no thats a legal interpretation/opinion, much like mine is based on my experiences and training - it's an opinion....a legal definition is found in legislation or case law - that hasn't occurred yet. There is no fear mongering here...this is happening. I agree about banding together.

The mechanism to prosecute owners of most shotguns is in place now. It is open to interpretation and a very a sound case can be made. You say it’s a non issue. Perhaps it is. But the orders are in place now waiting to be interpreted differently. The feds could easily bust a trap shooting match and make 20 arrests. Seize dozens of firearms and have a nice photo shoot smiling with all the guns. You will kick and scream but the law is the law and most Canadians would applaud these dangerous assault weapons being taken off the street. Why do you even need to own a shotgun with a choke? According to this OIC it’s an assault weapon. What possible need could you have for an assault weapon?

The OIC is saying anything over 20mm. 12ga > 20mm That is the fact. You cannot argue 20.66mm is smaller than 20mm.

Come back down to earth - CFC, Blair, RCMP....can say NOW 12ga shotgun is not "supposed" to be banned, but 1 year from now they can say "ooops, the OIC did say anything over 20mm, and it is the LAW. SORRY".

What they say is not important, what the OIC actually said is what it matters.

It is like driving over 120km/h on a 100km/h highway. Cops generally do not ticket people over that, but they DO do that and it is perfect legal for them to do it by the law. You have no defence just because someone said in general driving 120km/h is OK.

and yes, the goal of the government is complete disarmament. I have actually heard Crown Counsel for the CFO say this during a firearms law presentation many years ago.

meeting no, she was presenting and it was a question that was asked from the crowd. I did have a copy of the powerpoint from her presentation, but I have since thrown that out about 4-5 years ago. The presentation was during the McGuinty era

Never said it was a non-issue, of course it is. But saying they’ve been BANNED is inaccurate and fear mongering.
