Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Why is this service in Ontario even run through the OPP? This should be done through a 3rd party. Why would we give the police force the burden of this administrative process? Also as mentioned before it should be completely automated. You really need a human ticking boxes?

Is there any way we can challenge this process

contact your MP and ombudsman
I don’t think humans are the problem. Only Quebec and Ontario have this ridiculousness.
It’s bureaucracy, politics and a lack of oversight.
that should explain why OPP is in charge

I am still waiting for a transfer that was initiated on March 19. The weird thing is that I also had a transfer initiated a day earlier on March 18 and it was completed two weeks ago. So for the past two weeks it appears they have not made much more than a day’s progress. At this rate transfers initiated today would not see the light of day until November or December 2020.

My MPP is not sympathetic to gun owners so who else can I contact? Why is the Ontario conservative government allowing this to happen?

Was gonna say "Christmas came early" when I made the purchase. Guess it's not the case anymore...

ONTARIO OMBUDSMAN. Sympathetic or not fill their mailbox and make your voice heard

Today is the 8 week mark since my last transfer was initiated. I have spoken to the CFO a couple of times, the last being 2 days ago at which time I was told that my file has been assigned and that the person it was assigned to would have it done 'soon'.. whatever that means.... If I don't have my approval notice by noon tomorrow I will be contacting the ombudsman. Not wasting any time contacting either my MPP or MP since they are NDP and Liberal and both anti-gun, they would more than likely see to it that the transfer is denied if I were to contact them....

actually, I'm going to contact the ombudsman regardless.... this is complete bull####, there is absolutely no acceptable reason for this to be taking this long..

I’ve called them a couple days ago and the lady said they are going through mid March transfers now, just can’t believe that. Transfer from ON to AB takes two days.

I remember a similar backlog about two years ago and the Ombudsman was quite helpful. They farmed out the backlog to New Brunswick and caught everything up. For a brief period of time we had one day transfers. Maybe it's time to overwhelm the Ombudsman again. A friend of mine in Alberta had a same day transfer last week.

I’ve already received a call from the ombudsman’s office, they took my report and took all of 24 hours to do it.

Let’s hope they can get something going for us all

How long did they take to catch up last time ?

filed a complaint also, bought mine march 23, just far to long.

I suggested they take it out of the hands of the OPP or setup software to automatically do the transfers and do audits instead. we are already vetted...

Like to happily report we are all in good hope!!!

Filed through store in Alberta on March 17th

Received it through email today!

A week ago I followed up and the lady on the phone did not give me the best hopes; used words such as "it is put under a review"

Now I don't know how to feel... Glad I got it and will get what I wanted to purchase, what we deserve or that this thing will become a wall display or worst case be called for return and net me out a ton of money.
