Ok so Im and LEO and court recognized FA expert. I work in the firearms lab , examining, testing and classifying any firearms seized in relation to a criminal charge. If I receive an SLR or Alberta Tac Rifle seized due to the recent FRT change, i WILL NOT be classifying it as a prohibited AR15 variant. I use the FRT as a tool to assist me, however I still make my classifications based on my interpretations of the law. And these rifles are NOT variants IMO

What if you are, "covertly" or not, ordered to classify it "prohibited" ?

The more they prohibit the more they make it hard for anyone to comply.
The government do not give a Fuc if you non comply, it’s not their problem.
They did what they said they would do, and that’s all that counts to them.
You need more than non compliance to stop this Sh!t.
You need to put it out there and be arrested, you need court cases.

You sound like a good guy. Wish we had some more common sense folk like you working in the RCMP wherever this BS gets determined.

Can we get a signed letter from you with your professional opinion?

The owner of MDI can correct me if I’m wrong, but according to the FRT entry for the MDI SLR it was noted that it was based off the KLM AR-10 (steep magwell angle etc.) so it should be no surprise that the SLR went prohibited since AR-10s are named prohibs now. This might be the same story for the modern hunter and modern varminter but not the sporter.

AR-10 variant

Because of a t-slot??? The original frt explicitly states that it’s design shares no direct or unique lineage to any known restricted or prohibited firearms.

Next in line... generic bans...
Rifles with pistol grips, pistols with braces/ stocks, anything with a muzzle brake, anything bullpup, anything with a removable magazine that may be modified to hold more than five rounds... I give these guys 3-4 months...

We talk how this will make them lose an election but let’s not kid ourselves... even at 2.2 million licensed firearms holders we are a group small enough for the liberals not to care one bit about. They will say they did this and nobody could. They will say this will lead to lower crime, they will get 80-90% approval from the general public...

The moment the first AR lookalike rifles started coming out a few years ago, having been designed specifically to get an NR classification from the lab, while being as close to an AR pattern rifle as possible, I had zero doubt that these guys were going to fire back eventually...

If the FRT notes say it was related to the AR-10, that is grounds to prohibit it. PreMay 1st it could be nonrestricted because AR-10s were not mentioned as prohibited in the Old OICs.

Was the ar10 not restricted prior to May 1st? Again the original frt states no direct or unique lineage to any known restricted or prohibited.
