What blows my mind more so is how many buyers are stuck in a time warp, don’t get me wrong I too see how insane prices are getting, I just bought a Russian produced M44 for $600 in March and sold it the other week overnight for $750. I partially regret it because I’m noticing that numbers apparently still climbing and the odds I’ll get myself another one that clean are slim to none. It’s still better than the guys who approach you proclaiming how he once bought one for $60 and your $300 91/30 is outrageously overpriced.
That said though everything seems to go that way, I’ve noticed kijiji is turning into a gongshow of everyone thinking everything they own is collectible or has potential, but in the next breath everything I post for sale seems to be worth less than dirt.
Markets are a strange place full of strange people.
I should have bought an Imperial Gewehr 98 Mauser when you could get one here on the EE for $1,000. I’ve been looking for years now and can’t find one.
What is the value now?
you are all INSANE everything is INSANE
We aren't stuck in a time warp, we just refuse to pay way too much for a firearm. That's not to say I think the prices shouldn't have gone up, but its more than I am willing to pay for one, which takes me out as a buyer unless the price comes down. Enough people refuse to pay the modern price, it will come down as no one will buy it.
As mentioned many are being priced out of the hobby, and for example I have the funds to play, I just don't want to play at these prices, lots of other stuff I can spend my money on which will bring me more satisfaction at a similar price. I bought more guns my first year collecting with a significantly lower paying job than I have in the last three years (And I started collecting in the last decade). It just doesn't make sense to pay 1k for some generic firearms which don't hold much value to me.
The price of Milsurps in generally have skyrocketed in the past few years. While some Milsurps have increased rather gradually, others have jumped in price in very large incriminates. Look at the price of a mix master Italian M1 Garand!
Eagle...don't you dislike M/N's?
I could be mis-remembering though.
I just wish interammo could get the baikal makarovs in again.
Those were great little pistols. Dirt cheap. Crazy accurate. Extremely reliable.
I never would have sold mine but ammo became hard to find and stupid pricey after the import sanctions on Russian hardware.
