Damn, I never knew I wanted a Mosin sniper until now.
You aren't the first person to say that.
I've helped several shooters see the light after allowing them to put a magazine full of rounds downrange through mine.

Sniper rifles can be very expensive. The old advice “Buy the book(s), then buy the gun.” is very good advice and can save you much heartache and thousands of dollars.
So old school sniper rifles aren't on the cheap end of firearms purchases and the scopes don't help with pissy wife either. Good to know. Thanks
I have a Long Branch No4 MkI (T) made in 1945. The scope is matched to the rifle with the scope number, C119, stamped in the wrist. It came with the transit box, leather scope cap and scope case. I bought it in 1975 when I was 17 from Mr. Gill the Geography teacher at my high school. He sold it to me with the understanding I would use it. I paid $100 for it.
There is a list of these rifles that would welcome your contribution.

The first one of these I saw was in 1973, being held by a serving soldier at the local Secondary School's fair - the best part of living in Darlington, UK was being just down the road from Catterick. I was 6 and absolutely in awe.
What would be a guess at the value of an L42??
The fun is collecting the "bits" of the kit
