COVID, et al and your buying habits

moved most hardware purchases to hold. Still though iron is hard to resist .. waiting for a 1937 Mosin to be delivered this week. I'm most scared by the idea of central storage so have stopped buying handguns - even the cool old sweethearts I love.

My ammo budget never varies, buy and buy. shoot and buy more. then, in case there's a shortage buy some extra. all in all I just pray the house never catches fire .. its gonna be exciting

I’m about the same but I have to say, CanadaAmmo has lost much of its appeal for me as a customer. I used to spend a lot with you guys. You used to bring in exciting fun novelty products, competitive ammo deals, and overall great sales and service.

I’m sure the service is still there but your catalog is stale, and prices aren’t nearly as competitive as I find in north Toronto based online stores. You guys pioneered “free shipping” and still have the lowest free shipping price however all the online stores now offer that it seems. Granted at $300+ orders.

Im just trying to be honest and hopefully not insulting.

Ill forever be indebted to you guys for bringing in the amazing Dominion powders for such a great price!

Currently this "crisis" has lead to me to spend more on stuff than normal. I'm working more, have less time, and want to be able to enjoy myself with the time I have. Instant gratification of buying a toy would be great.

Looking at your current product offerings there isn't really much to excite me there though. In fact looking at what you have in stock I can imagine you might not be seeing a lot of sales, because you honestly don't have much of anything. As to what you do have, it's mostly targeting fairly niche markets, which quite possibly are saturated because they're niche products you've sold for a long time.

I think short barrel single/double shotguns absolutely fall into this heavily. They're fun, but not so much fun you're going to want to own every possible variant. Likewise, I had a mag fed shotgun, and while they were amusing I also never found it to be reliable enough to consider carrying it in the bush or to use it for home defense. The mag fed really only offered the advantage of being legally unloaded, but quickly loaded, for both those applications, but reliability IMHO trumps legality as the old saying "better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6" comes into play. Also, the mag fed has some tacticool factor, which I will admit still gives me at least a softy, but that again is very niche. So, basically almost your entire shotgun lineup is of minimal interest to me, so let's look at rifles. Currently you have a very expensive Enfield, very niche, and a 50BMG AR upper, also very niche and of questionable legal status moving forwards. So, yeah, nothing there. Handguns, no comment, not my cup of tea, but at least it looks like you have a reasonable selection. Ammo, again, it just doesn't seem you have as much or diverse of stock as I recall you having in the past. Honestly sorting through it the only thing that interests me is a brick of .22LR, and I'd probably only order it if I found something else to hit the $200 mark and get free shipping.

In summary, carry more stuff.

I scooped up a few very desirable black powder muzzleloaders. They'll probably be the last ones not banned lol. Hell, I even bought the last of your .36 and .45 lead roundballs.

I may send out a survey on this subject, but I thought I'd ask here first.

How has COVID and the new gun ban affected your gun buying?

Are you buying less/more?

Buying different things?

We have seen what is likely the biggest 1 2 punch against the industry in it's history.

Buying more. Made a couple of impulse buys after the ban. I think of it more as an investment. I am only 19 still living at home so I am trying to build a collection before I have more expenses in the way. There has also been quite a few deals on things i've always wanted so i scooped those up. I think I have made 3 purchases since covid started. But i own 5 guns that i haven't even shot because of the range closures and restrictions. Working too much i guess lol

Honestly, I'm buying more ammo/firearms but spending less on other hobbies. All the turmoil and instability has me convincing myself - lead and brass is precious metal well shelved. Haven't spent nearly as much on AR hardware for obvious reasons but still working on my favorite one.

First responder. Still working, still trying to support my favourite shops (both firearm-related and not). So far have made some fairly major purchases, thinking about doing a really nice lever build next.

A bit more insight here for what it is worth.....
I had a HKSFP9 all done up for IPSC/IDPA six mags, FO sights, PO plate and it sat for months, as soon as COVID hit, it was gone and at my asking price which was very fair.
I bought a CASE (5000) of Eley Force (not cheap, but fair) because of concern over supply that I have seen in the past. Supply and demand is a thing for sure, as is the cnd/usd exchange, but when I can get a PCC chassis landed direct from the US cheaper than what most Canadian retailers are selling for there is something wrong.

Spending money on my house and moving.
Did buy a number of guns before the ban but, so far, nothing since.
Originally sold all my bolt guns, now possibly considering buying more.

I am buying lots of magazines, and ammo. If things go south, I am ready.

Buying body armour, gas masks and LOTS of PVC.

I think the WK180C was an important buy....have not bought any guns since OIC though I want too.

Maybe you guys should get into the PVC business and somehow find us CHEAP PVC end caps for 6-10 inch pipes.

I'd say I bought a lot more gun stuff after the OIC lol... 5 gun purchases since the gun ban, 7k rounds of ammo, body armour haha...

Still not done of course lol. Otherwise everything else hasn't changed much, I was always buying stuff online more than in person shopping anyways.

House shopping as well, but it's not like prices have gone down T_T.

Buying everything I need that I can find - ammo, parts, magazines, etc. I also started buying things I wouldn't have otherwise bought now that the writing is on the wall.

Added a couple of guns, more ammo, more body armour, gas mask (who would think it), lots of food.
If $}{;+ goes sideways, I want a fighting chance.

I am extremely well stocked so aside from wanting a few new toys and some very specific items I am not in the market for much these days. That's a good thing since my industry is effectively dead for the foreseeable future...

I've bought 7 guns this year.... And sold 2. With 2 more likely on the way in the next month.

My big thing is ammo. Ten guns and 100 rounds loses to two guns and 1,000 rounds. Up to 4,000 rounds myself, but I want another crate or two. However, stocking up on foodstuffs, because I think the "Second Wave" will be a huge thing that is meant to cripple people to become completely dependent on guberment feeding them. So likely will get MRE's and such first.

Even more than what I've spent on guns and ammo, has been on tools. Specifically to keep my guns and ammo working, but also for other things.
