The T97 Thread!

Anyone have feedback on the BUIS that the gen3 comes with? Don't think that's used in the PLA, so I wonder if they invested the time to make it worthwhile. Or should we just toss on some MBUS? \

SFRC had 18% off flash sale, brought the T97 G3 down to $1100 shipped. Really good deal.

I'm sure it would be the same BUIS as gen 2 type 97, copy of KAC. The one come with Gen 2 is garbage, you should toss it out and get decent MBUD or fixed sight set. Look at EE, you can find cheap Daniel Defense fixed sight set.

Thanks, I had a spare set of MBUS from one of my OIC affected rifles. The Norc sights will go in a parts bin for now. I have had those DD1.5, they're real slick.

Is it possible to thread the muzzle onto T97 (keeping it NR) or you'd need an adapter?

and if it is possible, does anyone know of a gunsmith in GTA who could do it?

Took the ol 13xx gen 1 out for the first time in a while.
Ran 100% as always.

Didn’t bother to bring gloves.. mistake right there.

After ~160 rounds the gun was so hot it wasn’t bearable to hold. And surprisingly enough even the actual trigger bow was hot enough to burn unless I was slapping the trigger.

Anyone have any ideas to prevent dumping heat into the lower? I’ve tried header tape with no luck as a last ditch before. Or is it inevitable and just remember gloves haha.

Thanks, I guess I'll ask around.

Mine was done at Calgary shooting center. Was quite expensive as it’s pretty labour intensive due to how the barrel is installed.

Worth it though.

Or you could do it yourself as the barrel is 14mm diameter and slightly tapered when going up. Save money by the doing it yourself.

14mm RH A2 birdcage flash hider is sold by Corwin Arms on here and then just get die set in 14mm left or right you can turn them around from Amazon or eBay.

You’ll save the exorbitant smith fee and downtime’s.

Lots easier to find muzzle devices for 1/2 28

The real KAC sites that the Gen 2 backup iron sights are based on are worth $4-500, and quite frankly I find them to be extremely close copies. That being said I'm not sure that I would want to use them as my primary sighting setup, they are excellent low profile buis but thats a different purpose than full-time use as the primary sighting system.

I personally think that they are much better than the polymer Magpul sights, and when used as backups instead of primary's they might even be better than the Magpul pros due to how low profile they are.

That being said, if folding sights are the primary sighting system I much rather use something that is robust and locks in place like Troy sights.

I'm generally decent with DIY, but threading barrel seems like a precision work that's easy to #### up. I'd rather pay a professional to do it.

I've got a gen1 currently. Would a gen2 upper fit on a gen1? Of course I'd have to cut the front and back sights but does anyone think it could be attached in a similar manner as the FTU from t97.ca?

I really doubt it, FTU from t97.ca looks higher than Gen 2 upper. But even if it did, where are you going to get upper without the rifle? Afaik they don't sell them as parts.

No. The rail is screwed into front and back mounting points and the gen 1 has nowhere to drill and tap.
