Just pulled out a few toys for their regular oiling and I just couldn't resist taking a few photos... Whoever thinks an SKS is junk needs their heads examined... or I am just biased :)

................COMMON MISCONCEPTION, ........That is, until you actually own a RUSSIAN/Refurb...........
back when they sold at WHOLESALE SPORTS for UNDER $200.............I had money to spend..........best money I ever spent on ANY firearm .

It's because they were / are cheap, if its cheap it must be junk. :)

The SKS was my go to rifle when I had other options, for a lot of good reasons.

Most people that don't like them, don't understand why they were designed the way they were.

Anyone that's used them under stressful conditions or been on the receiving end of one has a tremendous amount of respect for them.

If you're going to run down the SKS, you may as well run down the AK47, just because it's a Russian design.

Neither are precision rifles and were never intended to be.

As for price, IMHO they are way undervalued.

When I got my license, all I could afford was an SKS after buying a used 870 and 10/22. I treated myself to a "letter gun" but don't have a minty example with a clean sling or gold bayonet. Hard times lol. I'm ok with the accuracy and agree with bearhunter.

Great looking one. Looks like it's no refurb. those guys who snub their noses on it should know this is one of the best survival rifle in the world! Period! Not the over priced sheize fancy junk what jams up all the time unless being in the lab environment. I'd take SKS in apocalyptic world (if alive) any time over those new high tech H&K and those others alike. Trust me!

A friend of mine has an unissued Sks with gold bayonet, and It’s a beautiful rifle. I’m not too fond of the beat up bbq painted junk sold at a lot of retailers. Unissued or excellent condition re-issues really float my boat. Saying that I’ve owned several Sks’ but I don’t own any at the moment. Wish I had kept the 51 I had, it was in beautiful condition, and had good accuracy as well.

Ah the sks, They’re pigs, at home in the mud, and eats anything you feed them, I’m quite found of them!

My favourite beater will hit the target every time if I do my part, and will keep running. super easy to maintain which if you were in the field would be a blessing, puts a decent round out to 200 yards effectively and quickly repeatedly, and quick to reload with chargers, only downfall to the platform is magazine capacity, (and short stock) but for the time when it came out as a battle rifle it was pretty on par with other semi autos and a hell of a lot better then any bolt action capacity. People are always comparing them to modern rifles (which it still isn’t a slouch) instead of looking at it at the time it was designed, any soldier would have gladly had the increased capacity and quick follow up shots instead of a mosin or equivalent bolt action if the war would have carried on and it made a showing it would have performed well. It fits its intended purpose well especially for the quickly trained peasant army it was made to equip, that’s all I have to say, oh and nice rifle op if it was mine it’d look to well used by now....
