If they are anything like caribou, when you stop, they stop. They don’t get off the road, they just stop. I’m not saying I feel good about the carnage but it’s not as though the train can swerve or stop on a dime. Perhaps the coyote crowd from Alberta can throw sticks and tennis balls at them to humanely move them. Point being, trains have to use the track and the antelope are going to run on it because it’s easier for them. Unless one of these things change this will likely continue to happen.
