Thinking about a Gew 98...

Had battle damaged GEW98 given to me 30 yrs ago. Restored the 1917 Suhl, headspaced ok,stock repaired, added worn sling, and excellent butcher blade ensamble. Looks great and shoots very well.

I lucked out and got a 1905 Mauser-Oberndorf Gewehr 98 last summer for pretty cheap.

I bought an Israeli K98 converted to 7.62N. When I got home I found it was a mid war G98 converted to a K98 in WW2. When it was done fighting whomever, it made its way to Israel via Czechoslovakia because of the winter trigger guard and other marked parts. When it made it to Israel an armoured took the time to carefully peen any swastikas, but left the Imperial Eagles. Then sometime in the 60’s it was converted to 7.62N as it had been replaced by the FAL. Most likely it either went to a kibbutz for a walking around rifle or into storage. Then sold to someone in NS, then I bought it and currently resides in my collection.
