Calling me a nob because you disagree shows a complete lack of effort on your part.

Effort, not name calling.

This coming from the person who posted on a certain CC site; "You guys are RETARDED" and that we were "f--king physco".

Then there was "associating with crap", "this is F--KED", as well as the statement about associating with "garbage like this". Your banning was justified IMHO.

Straitshooter is being a gentleman calling you a knob.

I asked you in PM, and I am asking you here in the open forum, PLEASE let this die before it degrades any further and which could cause this thread to be locked. There is some viable dialog that was posted here and I would hate for it to be sh!tcanned because some people can't seem to play nice.

Sorry to have hijacked this thread, we now return you to our regularly scheduled program.

So let's please turn the page, and NO MORE PM's on this subject please.

I remember watching America's most wanted as a little kid and the bad guy always had a gun. ALWAYS. Some with old country and western movies and documentaries and whatever. Guns & Violence go together. If somebody had a rifle and was walking down the sidewalk out side of your house (trigger lock or no trigger lock) would you assume that he was going hunting or to knock off the nearest Quik-E-Mart?

And that is the problem. Did you also notice that the good guys also had the guns. I certainly did. I noticed that only an idiot would go after an armed criminal without a gun. A gun is merely a tool. The only thing separating an armed criminal with an armed police officer is intent.

Laws need to make sense. The idea that a gun with a 4.25" barrel is good, but that one with a 4.00" barrel is bad makes no sense, to say nothing of the fact that the length of a revolver barrel and the length of a pistol barrel are not measured the same way. The idea that there can be such a thing as bad caliber is even more foolish. None of the prohibited .32 caliber handguns are 32's, they are .311's, essentially the same diameter as the .303 service cartridge. If the government had come out and said that they would prohibit all .30 caliber firearms, there would be a lot of unhappy deer hunters. There is nothing innately evil about a specific bullet diameter and if there were, all guns of that caliber would be prohibited.

Laws also need to protect the public. Every jurisdiction with a CCW law has seen a drop in violent crime since that legislation became law. Personal opinion to the contrary does not contravene this reality. Canadian cities have become far more dangerous with the Liberal response to violent crime, that is the introduction of stricter firearm laws since 1979, rather than being safer. For anyone who is concerned about this trend towards increased criminal violence in our society, the path is clear. One does not have to participate in CCW for it to work; you only need to be clear thinking enough to support it.

It was never intended to make sense.

The 4.00"-and-smaller limitation was chosen because that would ban over half the handguns in private hands. It was chosen solely to ensure the maximum number of guns would be affected.

Don't EVER let anyone tell you the Firearms Act is not about confiscation and civilian disarmament.

Guys, now when liberals are reigning in Ontario, we are going to hear more and more about handguns as an evil tools which only kill. McGuinty will do his lieberal work brainwashing all "citizens", and in my opinion they will go to schools to start with kids, easy target and teachers are anti-gun, except my wife :)

You will never see concealed carry in this country. I'm not be pessimistic, I'm being REALISTIC.

Unfortunately ,I agree. We live in a society where your neighbour will report you if he sees your child riding his bike without a helmet . There is no way we will ever convince the general public that we need CC. The only way this will happen is if crime gets so bad that the police admit that they can no longer protect us.

"The only way this will happen is if crime gets so bad that the police admit that they can no longer protect us."

If the police could protect us now there would be no crime. Fact is they can't protect us now. About all they do now is find out who dunnit when the crime is bad enough to warrant their attention. Worse yet the Supreme Court of Canada says they are under no legal obligation to protect us!

These days the police are lucky if they can protect themselves, and as we've seen in recent years sometimes they can't do that. Unfortunately a couple of generations of liberal governments (from both sides of the house) has produced a Canadian population with a welfare mentality. If we truly believe that only the government can protect us, we are doomed. It's time for Canadians to step up and do their part.

If government doesn't allow us the right to protect ourselves, why and how can we 'protect' or should we support our government?

Is it time to move to Texas yet?

Nope, not likely but then all it takes is the crazy Liberals to get back in power with a mandate to do so and then all bets are off.

Is it true that handguns will be banned in canada ?

:p

No , But what they are planning on doing is banning the retail sale of handguns in Canada ,and importation of handguns into Canada.
This way they will not be stripping us of our guns (just letting us sell amongst each other like prohibs).
By doing this they are fooling the people ,giving the general public a false sense that there are no more handguns crossing the border ionto our country.

Fortunately we will have enough time to buy more guns until this happens.
