WS-MCR - Ongoing Impressions

allrighty then. I have 2 options for sites with the Gali stock.

the cheek weld is not great so here's the plan -

first I'm going to try Magpul flip ups. they could sit kinda low . Might have to press my face into the stock for good site alignment..Dont know.

second option- going to try this carry handle rail. sits a lot higher. and I will be able to carry the heavy brute trotting through the bushes.

then for higher front post, this site for front "maybe"

Not sure where I will end up. will let you know what sites work the best.

Man, I've been holding out on buying an MCR since IRG annonced the NDS18sc but its been crickets for months now.

After lurking this thread I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and hope on the next batch of MCRs.

I was holding out for the NDS18sc as well (and I'll still buy one if/when they show up) but my MCR as been reliable and accurate for the 600rds I've put through it so far. Scratches the carbine shooting itch that got harder to scratch thanks to our nut-less douchebag of a PM and his bull#### OIC.

Now that's interesting!

It's nice that it closes up the right side a bit (there than ejection port) and left side charging is nice for reloads but I wish they would've closed up the left side, left the charging handle on the right and had the folding cover that closed up the charging handle slot like the original AR-18. It's nice that as it is, it's more closed up than the WK but you can still see right into the trigger assembly.

I stripped mine down tonight as I was putting a new optic on it that I'll be zeroing tomorrow so figured I'd clean it. I cleaned it when new, again after it's first 100 rds and now at 700rds.

Observations:

-the gas block gas screw has been contacting the handguard at times, there is a worn spot on top of it that matches a wear spot in the handguard. I would imagine this is affecting accuracy, despite the accuracy being respectable (<2moa with bulk ammo, <1.5moa with 75gr handloads)

-the gas block gas screw was "carbon-locked" on pretty good

-decent amount of carbon buildup in the gas block, on the piston and on the barrel around the gas vents but function hadn't been affected

-the upper receiver, bolt, bolt carrier were all rather clean

"Rail is now a built in part of the receiver, not pinned/glued on"

and thats a good thing because I really want to install an AR carry handle for trotting through the bushes.

I’ve been reading up on the MCR but I’ve noticed that there seems to be a lot of changes since they were introduced. For example I see two different styles of handguards and buttstocks. Which one is the newest version?
