WK-180C piece of junk

Interesting....so based on the threaded nature, that may be the central point of failure then. I have seen some third parties make them, even some who are sponsors here. I am happy to try some different options, as maybe the materials may be different. I just wish there as a way we can tell if they have improved it - I don't see anything on their website based on a list of improvements based on batch/generation or things owners need to look for (sort of like a vehicle service bulletin). I am going to email them ask and hopefully they can confirm or deny whether the handle has indeed been improved.

The threaded handle is not ideal. It wiggles lose too. I was thinking of putting some blue loctite it.

Mine kept coming loose too before I realized that I had to put a small allen key through the holes and tighten it that way...but the loctite is a good idea. I just fear though that if it snaps, I won't be able to remove the stub with pliers.

I purchased one just 3 weeks ago and had very similar issues to Fonestar. Cleaned it before use as per manual, had feeding issues like no tomorrow. The mag does sit low, I tried the magpul(i bought wk180c MP) and a LAR mag, and both have the same issue. Holding the mag and pushing forwards which causes the rear of the magazine to sit higher allowing the shells to be caught every time worked...but this made the vertical grip i bought for the gun completely useless.

Like Fonestar, I wanted to be a believer, a patriot and buy Canadian made. I wish I had bought Chinese.

As for the 'all star warranty and customer service'....I contacted Kodiak asking for a refund expressing extreme disappointment in my purchase....they didn't even bother to say sorry and offer a prompt refund, instead to treat it as a warranty issue lol. Truly 'All Star'.

The fact Canadian patriots are wishing they had bought Chinese over Canadian pretty much sums up the state of Canada these days. Pretty pathetic.

At this point I will just hope there is a buyback program and get Trudeau to buy this POS off me and have it destroyed. At this rate, there is no way Kodiak will survive when their firearms don't even have the most basic functionality or reliability out of the box with out pouring more money, time and troubleshooting into it.

Avoid like the plague.

Is this an April Fools Day thread?

I would think that if anyone through that the AR180 pattern was good in the first place than it would have been a far more popular rifle. it was designed to be a cheaply inexpensive rifle in its outset. Making a “modernized” version is as reasonable as a “modernized” Lada. Same pig different lipstick.

However we are in Canada. So:

1. It’s MADE here - it’s creates jobs here (not in China) just buy one
2. It’s Non restricted as determined by the national police
3. It’s a common calibre and Mags are easily available
4. It’s a better tinkering playform than an SKS due to the popularity of kit

It also throws logic at the illogical Liberal prohibition of similar semi auto centre fire rifles that essentially do the exact same thing.

It’s not a waste of money. Not at all.
I hope that “Made in Canada” on commercial firearms sticks around.

The fact that this thing is made here and so crappy was pretty much the straw that broke the camels back in me deciding that Canada is definitely no longer a country I to reside in. Can only hope I land a job in the US soon and can buy something better in a far more patriotic country that doesn't just churn out junk simply because 'it's made here and not China'

I like them both. They are made by cdn’s for cdn’s. Support your economy and one day your support will turn out great platforms. You had a taste of this with the ms and the slr, This is a long term game. If your rifle is not working “right” figure out why.... it’s a rifle not a transmission ffs.

People defending garbage is likely why many Marines died in Vietnam with jammed M16s...

Mine works great now.
Had too light of a trigger I dropped in and had gas plug tuned wrong.
Also have broken charging handle but upgraded to a spectre ballistic model. Much better

Also very accurate with 62 gr bulk factory or 55 gr handloads. Fmjs

Noun, Warranty: a written guarantee, issued to the purchaser of an article by its manufacturer, promising to repair or replace it if necessary within a specified period of time.

You had issues, they wanted to fix them. It's that simple, they're literally providing a warranty service. Excellent customer service doesn't mean you get your money back on a used gun.

Your response, to run to CGN and post hands down one of the most cringe worthy comments I've seen this year asking for gun bans, claiming you're going to emmigrate because of this and referring to yourself as a patriot. Top kek

Isn't Sleepy Joe trying to ban the AR15 in the state right now?

Yep, and I think people have to think that no product is perfect, and as a long as a company is willing to accept warranty repairs, this works for everyone. New cars have warranties. If you have a problem right away (as I did 17 years ago when I got my dinky little Nissan), you contact the people who can warranty it. Sure, would it be nice if products came with no problems? Yep, but that's not how the world works. As long as the problems are fixed and the companies take steps to improve the product over time, that should be something consumers can accept.

Wherever possible, I would rather buy a Canadian product that has a company willing to stand behind repairs, than to buy a foreign made product. I would like to think I don't have such a myopic view of the world to think it's all about me, my rights, my enjoyment, my expectations. Give people a chance to correct issues rather than throw them under the bus as first sign of issue. As I said before, even a company like Hyundai can go from a Pony which has the exploding rear bumper/gas tank to now having several of their cars as top picks in well respected car review magazines. It is also possible that people get lemons. I have owned two car lemons, one of them surprisingly was a Honda Accord, that has been universally regarded as a reliable car year after year. Things happen in manufacturing, and the variables in how a person uses the item and under what conditions may have a bearing as well. Go to the manufacturer and initiate a warranty case. It will also help the company in identifying potential issues that may need to be re-engineered.

10/10. This post was so cringy and so hilarious I actually had the desire to respond to something on CGN other than an Equipment Exchange thread. That's truly an immaculate feat.

These posts are so filled with cringe and so over the top reeking with poorboi entitlement the whole patriotism thing was the icing on the cake. Truly. Real patriots thank you for your service to the gun community dog. A real all-star.

You literally contacted them with an issue. They agreed to warranty it. And you got upset. Remind me again why you didn't contact the retailer that sold it to you for a refund instead of the company if you were that dissatisfied. You contacted them with a warranty issue (probably in a very confrontational way based on the way you write these posts here) and they still agree to warranty it. Yet you somehow feel entitled to.....what exactly? A full refund. I'm sure they'll oblige as soon as you send the product back. They sound more than happy to fix the issue for you.

So...even though there is nothing wrong with my WK180, I decided to email Kodiak asking about the charging handle thing today.

They responded very quickly and the person who wrote me back, Owen, was very professional, and honest. He explains that yes, sometimes the charging handle may break, but he said they have sold over 11,000 of these and the reported charging handle break is a very miniscule (under 1%) of the total amount of rifles sold. He said while I can order an extra one, he told me he doesn't recommend it as the rifle would be covered under warranty. He also mentioned the piston may also be subject to issues (he volunteered that information, which I saw as decent of him). He said they 100% back their rifles, and I have no reason not to believe him. I think his response was forthright, and as a customer that is what I am looking for. If I have problems, I will for sure pursue the warranty, but for me in all my years, I have found that quick and detailed response is a good initial sign of customer service. So I will for sure give them the benefit of the doubt and know they are prepared to stand behind their products.

I also have no doubt that Kodiak is intimately aware of any issues with the gun and like most reputable companies, they will make adjustments to either their engineering or manufacturing to rectify. No company will just let a known defective part continue in circulation (well, most companies won't - my German car company will stock the same defective electric water pump that has been proven to fail, but that's another story for another time...)

Good chuckle.

Owen is amazing. Kodiak has first rate customer support. Owen deserves more respect and appreciation. It's sad to see all the toxic comments. If you follow the warranty process, you will be taken care of.

This post sold me on buying a WK-180C. I’ve been holding out for a few years now, mostly because they aren’t as pretty as an AR. But enough is enough. If something is this divisive I want to see it for myself.

Honestly, at first glance it seems fine. I’m excited to put some rounds through it and try to break it.

I just recently purchased a wk-180C and was explained that the new ones are much better now. I did do some research and a few things need to be changed no big deal. can anyone tell me what would be a great optic for this rifle?
