Call me stupid (though inexperienced with dangerous game would be more accurate) but I would feel fully confident with an AR15 and 30rounds of 62gr 5.56, if a bear was charging me.

If you sit perfectly still, he won't even see you.

Ukrainian Bear Trap

Forgive the poor pic, couldn't find an image, so I had to improvise. This is a drawing of a Ukrainian bear trap, shown to me by an old timer many years ago. To use it, you hold it by the handles, quietly sneak up behind the bear and ram it up it's ass. The bear's gonna run like hell, so you run behind him, holding on and scout around for a stump to hook the ring over. I had to ask what the rings at the end of the handles were for. That's so you can wipe the #### out of your eyes while running.
