Hey Guys; (UPDATED PICS WITH SHELL HOLDER POST 54)

What can I say, other than it was love at first sight when I saw this Cosa Nostra Lupara & I had to have one...

Is it practical? Well YOU be the judge of that!

Let's start with the pluses...
+ 3" chamber
+ 10" of barrel, well 9.8" but we're gonna round up lol... I mean really, what guy isn't going to claim 9.8" is actually 10"... LMAO
+ available with benelli/beretta mobil choke tubes, 6 of them! (Stop laughing, I swear I'm gonna try to shoot a turkey with it!)
+ extremely short LOP and I can still shoulder it & get the bead on target
+ barrels appears straight, bodes well for being well regulated, lol...
+ baikal-ish fit and finish (Everyone gets a participation trophy right?)
+ mechanical trigger to ensure you will mash your thumb into your nose with the SECOND barrel even if the first shell is a dud!
+ no auto safety, once you take it off you're on your own...
+ selectable o/u barrels
+ 4lbs 5 & 5/8oz
+ completely legal despite being under the minimum length requirements as explained by Ian Runkle in the vid below!

Now onto the minuses...
- the finish is m'eh
- it's so short it might be too short LMAO but that's the whole point right?
- the checkering could have been more aggressive, because she kicks like a mule!
- extractors and not ejectors, but then again once you let the first 2 rip you're probably going hand to hand with the bear anyway...
- not long enough to use as a canoe paddle or walking stick
- not a 3.5" chamber
- 1.977kg for you Millennials & younger folks...

Bottom line, get you one of these Lupara to prevent future regret when they sell out or ban them.

Range reviews to follow... Updated: Range trips posted!

Cheers
Jay

Reminds me of a side by side that I ringed the barrel in. After I got the new set, I couldn't resist cutting off the old set and trying it. (This was in the 1970's)

The barrel, like yours Jay, ended right at the tip of the forend. I had twin triggers so even tried it both barrels.

Had to try it at night. Huge fire ball. You must try that!

BTW, those barrels are long gone.

Now all you need is a red neckerchief for your dog.

... And in this space I tried to post a couple of photos from the Road Warrior movie but they won't embed or something.

It looks fun, I’m a sucker for a short barrel shotgun. Especially one with chokes, unfortunately I couldn’t hunt with it in BC. I’m curious to see what it’s poa/poi is with that 10” barrel.

My understanding is you could hunt with it in BC if you chose the 12.2" barrel option... LUPARA!!! lol

Yes that would be legal, but the 10” would be what I’d be interested in. Love a really short 12g and with chokes it would be pretty fun to ground swat grouse with.

I have the 10 inch and in all honesty the extra 2 inches is nothing and seems like it would be much safer for hand placement, if your hand slips off the handguard on the first shot the second barrel is flush with the handguard and you might loose a couple digits if you’re careless or not paying attention.

I already have 12.5” barreled shotguns, don’t need more. I’d deal with a 10”, I’ve no problem hanging on to a short barreled 12g with stout loads. Gloves make a big difference in keeping a tight grip, plus it has a buttstock. Easy to pull it tight in to you with both hands.

So, I hit the range...

Initial impressions are: I like the thing & didn't blow off any fingers! I can't believe Slow Joe was right, GET A SHOTGUN!

I fired about 2 dozen rounds of 2&3/4" light target loads, regular birdshot & buckshot. Fired cartridges with brass rims drop free when you invert the shotgun barrels, aluminum ones not so much... I noticed that it leaves a very healthy dent in the primers, can you say positive ignition? I also installed the mod tubes in both barrels & the patterns were reasonable forest chicken at 10 yards sort of thing... The cylinder tubes probably would have covered a barn door at point blank, but hey whatever floats your boat!

At 4.5lbs, that was enough silly boomstick for me to prove it's workable, I didn't mash my thumb into my nose (notice I tried keeping my thumb on the right side lol), the safety did not auto engage upon firing and holy cow I can actually hit something within reasonable cauterization ranges. Most impressive was the BLAST! OH MY SWEET JEBUS THIS THING IS LOUD!

So, there you have it gentlemen, I'm happy & may never shoot the thing ever again BUT I'M GLAD I HAVE ONE! LOL

Cheers
Jay
