22 Mag of choice (regardless of action type)

Model 94/22

Winchester 9422 Classic with a scope;)

I had two of these at one time. Model 94/22mag and another in 22LR.
Hey y2k, Do they shoot well?
Art, If it was up to me I would have one of each:D
Model 94/22Mag XTR or Classic
CZ 452 or 453 American or Varmint 22mag (Brooks trigger kit)
Ruger 77/22mag
My list could go on and on.

Hope this helps ! Tikka

I have a Ruger 77/22 Mag (walnut/blued) that will shot into about .75" all day at 100m with several different brands of ammo. I had to mess a bit with the bedding to get to this point but I'm very happy with it now and it has been consistent for the past 5 years or so. I have a Leupold 6x42 on it and it has harvested a truckload of pests and whatnot...

blake

I have a CZ 452 American in 22 WRM. It is classy looking and quite accurate with several types of ammo. (Doesn't care for Dynapoints nor the Remington green box stuff) Also have a Mossberg 640K(d) that shoots well with some ammo, not so well with others. Eagleye.

My 452 won't even chamber Dynapoints

I purchased one of the newer bolt action savages, dont even know what model-no accu trigger, but I really like it. It is a little tempermental about what ammo I shoot. With the cheap wally mart winchester ammo(that I swore I would never use until it went on sale,6 bucks a box) actually shoots the tightest groups. Yeah I didnt beleive it either. With the more expensive Rem and CCI ammo I have a 6 inch+ POI difference at 100 yards. I cant seem to make the more expensive ammo hold a decent group but with the cheap sh%$t it will hold about 1.25" groups at 100. I know that that isnt the cats A$$ but I think I only paid 275 for the gun and 45 for the scope. The clips on the savage dont seat well into the magwell but after losing a clip I quickly learned that If I dont here the click, it aint in there. Yes I know that sounds stupid but it takes about 25lbs of energy to get the damn thing in there, Nonetheless it has been a very good gun for me. I have used it in any were from -20 to +30 and it shoots the same. I have also played around with some long range shot at the range and it is pretty steady out to 200 with BDC. One of my best freinds however shoots an old Marlin lever and although it jams up once in a while, I cant even compete with it for grouping. Damn thing shoots .875 groups at 100.

:pI have had quite a few 22mags over the years ........1 marlin ,2 10/22 magnums, 2savages (pre-accutriger) and I have settled on the 597 Laminate heavey Barrel.

The marlin shot well with almost anything but the savages were just looking to good and cheeper than the marlin, so I sold the marlin and bought an new savage 93 . It shot well but I saw SIR had a stainless HB model with the synthetic stock and WSS had a blued HB 17hmr with a wood stock ,So I bought them both and switched stocks and sold the HMR.
The savages Shot great but the bolt-action just dident do it for me with it being a rimfire and I had been eyeing up the ruger for a while since I had built 19 regular 10/22s. , I loved building them ,build it up ,shoot it ,sell it and start all over again .....spent alot of coin on them .
The first 10/22 mag only saw 50rnds with the factory barrel and then the gun was overhalled :p I found that the VQ extractor made the gun fuction flawlesly , I shot it a fair bit was offered a good price and it was gone:eek:
I then bought anouther one and did it all over again , once I really looked into how much $$ I had tyed up in the 10/22 mag and my other 10/22 lr I sold them both. Both mags would do an inch at 100y if I did my part
When they sold $950 for the mag and $400+ a ruger 9mm for the 10/22lr
I placed an order for a new 10/22LR (witch remains stock except for trigger ) and a 597HB with laminate stock and I think I bought a new AR with the leftover and some $$ from the gunfund

Have been happy with the 597 mag and havent looked back, even bought one in 22lr
the 597 is consistant ,no problems and will group an inch with win supreme , remington V-max, super-x JHP, CCI maxis @100y dynapoints shoot a bit bigger as well as CCi TNT's Either way its a good rifle for being stock , trigger has not even been replaced with a VQ;)

I have one of the new Rem model 5 in 22 mag and its a great shooter and very nicely put together, beautiful blueing. It likes Maxi mag ammo the best. FS

I have had a pile of 22mags(a dozen or more). My favorite that I have now is a BPR,just because it has that big rifle feel to it.It really seems to like federal 50gr ammo.
My chum bought a Rem M-5 that I really like.I sighted in the scope then fired 15 shots at 100yds you could cover with a dime using Win soft points.

Not one of my 22mags shot maxi-mags well. They are no better than Dyna-points as far as I have seen.Every one of my rifles tossed flyers using maxi-mags.

I used to have a Squires Bingham and it was VERY accurate. We bought a Norinco when they first became available here and it isn't bad either. I absolutely HATE the terrible rough and hard to move safety on it though. One of these days I'll take that bolt apart and see if things can't be improved. That is the only complaint though. For a dirt cheap 22 mag. I was impressed with how it shoots. It will put everything into 1 inch at 100 yards using standard Winchester loads.

I have had excellent accuracy from my marlin 883 with a bushnell
elite 3200 on it.

I concur. I have a 782, which is the magazine fed, earlier model.

This gun has been mine for about 30 years. Put a scope on it and couldn't swat with it, took of the scope and back to normal. Will try a scope again.

I made a big BOO BOO selling those two. Nice rifles and in prestine condition.
Two more guns that i regret selling Oh well!:runaway: I hope you enjoy them. Bob

I have a Savage 93g. Bolt action. Great gun, and pretty damn accurate. It has the accutrigger on it, but I honestly don't use it. I can understand why one would want to have it, but I've never felt a great need to fiddle around with trigger pressure. Probably the most accurate .22WMR I've shot to date.

I have an older Marlin .22mag that is really accurate with a very cheap bushnell scope on it. It doesn't complain about what ammo I put through it and I've been able to get about 2" groups at 100 yards with a variety of brands. I like the .22 mag round a lot for groundhog hunting and find it a great option between .22lr rounds and the smaller centerfire rounds.

Marlin 922M

I have 4 different 22mags:
Ithaca 49 lever single shoot falling block
Ithaca 72 lever (Erma) repeater
Winchester 275 pump
My favourite Marlin 922M semi. Very accurate ! Too bad Marlin discontinued it !
