Yesterday I've received a nice big box from Wolverine Supplies : My first black rifle !!

Exterior impressions:

-Its a black rifle, no kidding... Its a lot darker than the pics shows on Robinson Armament website. The rifle comes with black A2 pistolgrip and non-folding skeleton stock with foam padded cheekrest.

-Comes with continuous 1913 rail machined on top of the upper receiver along with half the lenght at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions from the end of the upper until next to the upper/lower joint.

-The gun is equiped with a heavy barrel marked 5.56 NATO 1/9 which sports a A2 flashhider muzzle device, it has a closed end.

-The gun is issued with Midwest industries flip-up backup front & rear sights and a steel C-Product 5/30 rounds magazine with grey magpul follower & chrome spring.

-There are 2 sling attachment eyelets on the rifle: one at the buttstock adapter and over the buttpad.

Pickup Impressions:

-I can't say its light (3.955kg on the scale). It is front heavy, i'm certain the heavy barrel is in for something. With the Tango Down vertical grip i've added after half an hour of swearing, its a lot more handy now :ninja:

-The selector lever has a 60 degree throws and got a positive feel and audible click.

-The mag catch is the usual fenced and serrated AR-15 type.

-The charging handle: FAL looking, natural position on the left of the upper receiver got a big plastic handle the rest is aluminum with a steel link which contacts the bolt carrier, the handle may be pushed in (means to the right) to act as a forward assist.

-The bolt catch, THE feature I really love on this gun and many heard about; Its an ambidexious paddle, easy to use with or without gloves, I simply love to put a mag with my left hand and to release the bolt with my trigger finger, very pratical !

-Gas Regulator: It looks similar to a SVT-40 regulator but uses a spring detent for accurate setting and it can be taken off by the front. It has 6 settings, 5 marked and one unmarked for shutoff. In break-in procedure the gas setting #4, the highest is to be used. When the break-in is complete (200-300 rounds) lower settings such as #3 or #2 maybe used reliably. Settings #1 and S are to be used with sound suppressors which we are unwhorthy to use as the lieberals say. In the operator manual it says it can be ajusted with the cartridge tips (1 on the detent and 1 in the regulator slot) but I've manipulated it with my bare fingers and it works, unless you have very big fingers...

-Trigger: Two-stage, long and heavy first stage and hair-short and crisp second stage, the harder part for me to learn on the gun It should smoothen and lighten with use

-Upper/Lower split: The upper and lower may be seperated by drifting the pivot pit to the right using the tip of a cartridge, the pin is captured so it won't fall off.

-Barrel takedown: One of the novelty the rifle's marketing. There is a big 1/4'' allen bolt right in front of the magwell, once it is unscrewed by about 1/4" the barrel may be removed by twisting it at the gasblock area until free of the grip of the upper receiver and the gas tube can be taken off of the receiver, nothing too hard. Putting everyting back in is easier, the gas tube must be installed with the holes facing the barrel and when putting the barrel back in the receiver, a notch on the gas block must go in a recess on the gas tube and then just screw the bolt back in and voilà !

-Takedown putton: It is also the end of the buffer assembly, it holds in position by spring pressure and keeps both halves nice and tight.

Interior Impressions:

-By pushing the takedown button, it allows the opening of the rifle to access the bolt carrier assembly, the chamber/receiver extention and the trigger group.

-The inside is well finished, the bolt/carrier and operating rod are parkerized.

-The bolt has a BIG face, 3 massive lugs to keep it well locked and a big claw extractor, heavy duty !

-The bolt carrier has thick walls, there is a raceway for the bolt to cam and to provide one point to fit the operating rod.

-The ejector is of fixed type, 1/16'' thick steel fixed with two bolt and lock washers in the upper receiver.

-The attached gas piston is chromed for easier cleaning

-The buffer assembly slides in the back of the operating rod

-The gas tube has vent holes on one side, usualy it is supposed to be oriented in the direction of the barrel, but I've seen somewhere that if the gun is to be shot in a wet environment the tube should be oriented that the vent holes are facing to the top. Interesting.

Slight shooting experience:

Since I've never shot an self-loading rifle of that caliber, my experience is very limited in that particular area.

-With a magpul MIAD and the tango down vertical foregrip, it handle very easily, stays on target without effort and it is very confortable to shoulder.

-Having only shot larger calibre self-loading rifles, It of course have low recoil even on the setting #4. I love it !

-Ejection is strong, very strong; throws brass at 2 o'clock at rifle level, however I don't know the distance, I had a spent casing screen/shield on my right (pistol range)

-I can't really comment on accuracy yet as I was only shooting at 25m, offhand I could get within an inch and half with some patience (didn't have much yesterday :ar15:) with federal 55gr Softpoints ammunition.

IMHO section

Pros:
- Looks awesome
- Multi accessories possibilities to suit any user
- Easy assembly
- Good ergonomics and excellent access to the control of the rifle
- Takes AR mags
- Unrestricted
- Looks awesome

Cons :
- The upper won't open much for cleaning, thats not major but it is still a slight negative
- The rifle takedown is a little too easy, when removing the bolt carrier assembly, it is needed to hold the carrier and operating rod together otherwise the carrier and bolt will fall on the ground
- Would have liked the folding stock option, feels bad to be considered terrorists by the USA
- As I said earlier, it is front heavy; a lighter barrel profile or a shorter one might improve the handling greatly, the blame is on our bad laws
- No suppressors and Hi-cap mags, again the blame is on the dumbass laws still in force, blasting away with this gun is so much fun...

Still to be decided
- The accuracy of course, maybe somebody else might add their input in that section

In conclusion, I love the gun and it craves for an ACOG.

PICS WILL BE ADDED AS SOON AS I CAN MAKE SOME THAT GIVE JUSTICE TO THE RIFLE

For now I can't provide any good shot of the regulator, and the whole gun due to bad lighting. To be continued...

Good news, that will be a must-have for this rifle.

I'm sure they'll be good, if it is to match the XCR it has to be good !

I know they are back orderd , but what were they worth? there is no price ?

$1995 at Wolverine....if you are not on the list by now forget it.
$2095 at P&D......all sold out within 3 hours
$2195 at TSE......they might have some left but I doubt it.

I thought the stocks were supposed to be folders from the factory. Whaty happened to that? Export laws or something, or did Robinson just not find a way to make it work?
