New 2,000 Meter Range In Grande Prairie Alberta - Show Interest?

Would there be any plans for Brutality-style matches? If approved, there would be a lot of room to work with to make some innovative courses.

Send an email in support, become a member, and push for one. If there isn’t, it’s the only way it will happen. The guy spearheading this range is a PRS guy fyi.

I don’t have any social media to follow this more closely but are there any email lists I can join to read up more on this? I just found out about the saddle hills group yesterday.

Next time I’m in GP I’ll stop at Bartons and see from the guy heading it. Unfortunately, none that I’m aware of currently. All of my info is from contact with the people pushing for it.

For anyone that’s interested in seeing the proposed ranges general location and surveyed size. Here is a link to the gp county planning commission.

To find it on google earth, go north highway 2 until you see range road 63 then north to twp 750 intersection, and you’ll recognize the land from the link.

In the good old days, wasn't there a 2000 yard event at Bisley, that was restricted to .303 British?

Stickledown at Bisley only goes to 1200m. TR use to be shot with 303, now 308.

And they have one competition that they shoot to 1200 but use scopes, and they lay backwards and use their feet as a rest. If Maynard see’s this post he’ll be able to say what it’s called.

Isn't that Creedmoor or supine style?

I texted him, he said Match Rifle. Its any site, and prone or supine.

Did you send an email for us??

If it’s a go, you’ll need to head up with your sling guns!

I’m utterly curious with my riles front and warner rear how far out i can reach!

I haven't yet, no, I have not been on my computer much the last few days and my phone is a POS to email with- for me, anyway!
I will likely get it done this evening .
Depending on The aiming point we should be able to get out there !:dancingbanana:

The e-mail I sent to Jason Nixon's office got forwarded to the Chief Firearms Office. Which resulted in my getting a call from the Deputy Chief Firearms Officer.

There is hope from their point of view.

The Board for the project hopes to hear from the Province some time this week for approval of the land to be turned over to the County.

Someone should email the premier. It is economic diversification, a tourist attraction, and the Liberals won't like it. It's the perfect thing for him to announce to give the media something to go "squirrel" at :p .

I would say leave him out of it. He can’t be trusted.

And those already involved in positions that matter seem to be on-board.

It doesn't really matter who approves the range, the CFO will have to be involved eventually to sign off on the construction design.
Some of the requirements I have seen are ridiculous, but things could not goo forward without them.
