My My, how the tide has turned for the SKS...

I am happy to announce that my 19 year old son, who recently got his pal/rpal, bought his first rifle...

A 1951 Tula SKS -- A nice Molot bbq refurb. He has already put 160 rounds through it. He's even got the disassembly and cleaning part down to an art.
He stuck his nose up at a 22LR. Maybe one day he'll see the light and buy a nice CZ.

22lr is always good for the Zombie apocalypse, quiet.

.

I see Tenda has a new shipment in of Russian rifles and they say they are in VG condition. $500 is not a bad price for a rifle dependable as the sun rising and capable for playing so many roles from hunting to.... I love mine and may love it more if I eventually add an optic sight on her.

ps And the are non-restricted.

Neither side uses the SKS and sale of these rifles generates hard currency for somebody. I wonder where the source is for the Russian rifles. Last year I bought "Dominion" primers they were "made" in Bosnia! I suspect they are Tula primers out of Russia and the Bosnian reference is to get around Russian import restrictions but that is just a guess.

It’s been awhile, but there were many pictures in the Ukraine with civilian militias armed with the sks and there were (not long ago) many photos of civilians arming themselves for personal defence with the sks. Let’s remember how plentiful the ammo is in that area of the world. It’s not just the armed forces arming themselves.

I posted a few of those pictures. They will use whatever is available to them.

many has learnt during ex-yugo wars how effective they were. many kept them at the end.

I could see NATO giving them nice stuff... hypothetically
id rather fight Russian forces with a beater AR then a beater SKS lol. Hopefully the 2 nations are able to negotiate something. Id hate to see good people die on either side.

Ditto, it would be a blood bath, and while Russia would prevail, at what cost? Also, I wonder if this is just one big 'false flag" and that something else, far more sinister, is at play. OK, I'll take off my tin foil hat now.

In winter warefare, I would be happy to carry an SKS.

wars are always that and it s a shame we cant get along.

on a side note many disagree about ar better than sks or ak but just a matter of like or use ...

Maker's Blessing to the people of Ukraine, and ##### Putin!

...but, Bob's an eXpert on Ukraine ...& C0VID!

Gets serious. If the Ukrainians are in fact going to have any chance against the Russians I would hope they get modern rifles.. I suspect the Americans have supplied them with large amounts of ammunition. Pictures of the arms being unloaded have been all over the news. The Russians moved to the Ak47 for a reason. This is2022 not 1947.
