REM arms discontinue 870 Express and Wingmaster!

When was the last time you had an 870 in need of a replacement part?

True, easier to buy a complete gun for parts.

I have one, 50s Wingmaster. Ejector spring is broken. It was previously “repaired” by some ham fisted brute that didn’t peen the rivets properly and the ejector is also loose. Can’t find the rivets or the spring to do the repair. Ejector is OK I think but wouldn’t mind swapping it out to 3” since it needs be repaired anyway.

What about those with pre Flexitab guns that want to upgrade? No parts.

This, i have repaired a broken ejector and a mangled ejector spring in the last year. The second one I managed to find rivets in a gun dealers parts bin, they havnt been available online anywhere for quite a while. Almost any remington part these days you ask about you get laughed at.

Well said my friend. IMHO 1000 for any pump is crazy money but that is where they are today
take care

The new Remington have NOTHING to do with the prior bankruptcies or the Sandy Hook settlement by the previous corporations owning them.

Maybe you missed the parts Remington was dismantled by the court - and all companies equipment were sold.

Remarms are the new Remington - they use the name as much as Ruger is the new manufacturer of Marlin guns.
The only things going is the commercial name.
They are not liable for any actions or products by the Remington Arms group.

Stop mixing things up.

I already knew that, I'm not mixing anything up....

Or that barrel mark "1 of 2016" means ... one of 2016 200th Anniversary 870s made.

Because my serial number is definitely not "1" ..... :)

No point arguing with 3Macs1, don't you know he is THE AUTHORITY on all things Remington and most things shotgun and is going to tell you so in no uncertain terms and even when you show him proof of his being wrong! Must be a real joy to be around at a gun club where you want to go to have fun and relax and enjoy the shooting?!

BTW that 200th in your pics is a sharp looking gun!

No expert but been around them a lot of years in fact since 1965 when dad sold them and I got my first new wingmaster and own a hell of a lot of them still
So you are saying this is the 1 of 2016 LOL Sure it is Where is this proof you talk about and I expected more from you spank other than this kind if BS attack
Then again what do I expect from a trap shooter

In the end enjoy the gun and have fun with it. It is a pretty 870
I have bought most of the special runs over the years and remember this one being announced but didnot buy one since I could only get it in a 26's barrel so knew down the road who would I sell it to
No good for trap or a duck blind IMO and very few remington shotgun collectors out there. Did I buy the 870 in 16ga and wingmaster in 3 1/2 when they were introduced sure did as well as a choke tubed 16ga 1000. All are still NIB and making money plus I bought an extra 16ga choke tubes 1100 and 870 to shoot at the same time
Cheers

You really are something....he never said it was #1....he said it was 1 of 2016....but if you read a little more thoroughly you may have caught that. If I had the time and could be bothered I'd go back through your posts to see how many times you've told us about how you've been around Remington's since '65 when dad sold and repaired them. Your needle is skipping on the same spot, maybe get a new unscratched record.

Its possible...few years back I bought a Browning High Grade Program limited edition Citori GrIII from Epps, only a few hundred made and was sitting on Epps shelf a bit. Serial # was 0002, and a call to Browning confirmed it was legit. #1 went to a dealer in Colorado. Guy from Browning at the time said they just get sent out to distributors and its luck of the draw who gets low numbers

Possible yes with this remington but the odds would be off the charts IMO

Yes I sure am something :) One that shoots trap with a 28ga to make it challenging LOL Sorry I bore you with my past which is all I have at my age
Enjoy your day Spank I have no time for this crap . You hate remingtons plain and simple you have made that well known 1 million times yet shot and owned them. PRICELESS

Maybe if you knew anything about vintage remingtons you would know they always stamped the actual number of the serious on the gun for limited production runs
Maybe that changed I don't know and have no one at remington to ask any more. I stopped buying these limited runs around 2011??
All of mine in limited runs are labeled as such like these 1100's, my 870's the same etc etc
Look at the pics from Frontier why is one stamped on the barrel 1 of 2016 if as you say and it very well could be in 2016 and the other not stamped is my question
WHY because as I have been saying since the start the barrel was changed IMO. MY god the dude has not even confirmed the length on his but asked a few times

The 870 was first made in 1950... I graduated from gunsmithing school in 1967 and started my career. In 1968 I was doing repairs on shotguns and Model 12's were very common. I quickly found out how complicated that mechanism is. If one wants the trigger more crisp and lighter it can be done but that also may require work on the safety and on the disconnector. If a part had to be replaced it usually required fitting and then of course other parts that linked to it required adjustment. The Model 12 was a fine old shotgun in it's day but the 870 sure showed how simple and reliable a 'modern' shotgun could be. All the parts in a 1950 870 action are completely interchangeable with the parts in an 870 action over 70 years later with no fitting required. So simple and reliable. It seldom required repair. I have a friend who bought one in 1952 and hunted a lot for 40 years with it and has only required a recoil pad and cleaning. Pump action shooters should hope the old 870 remains in production in some form...

Jeez the barrel has not been switched….the stamping and gold ring at muzzle makes it obvious. And as already stated that edition was ONLY AVAILABLE WITH A 26”bbl. And also as already stated the ‘1 of 2016’ does not denote the build number, simply means Remington made a run of 2016 of these 870’s to commemorate the 200 anniversary in the year 2016. The actual build number of specific gun will be in the last 4 digits of serial number on side of receiver. Remington also produced another less exclusive and less expensive 200 anniversary edition based on the Sportsman 870 platform.
This info has been readily available for years on various forums, it’s nothing new.

One barrel is stamped and one is not in the pics I am referring to from Frontier. Agree on the rest Look at post 39.That is two different guns out of the 5 they got IMO
Blueing is even different IMO

Yes of course it’s 2 different guns, can even see the wood grain is different on gun in first 2 pics….if my memory serves me correct the first 2 pics were actual Remington promo pics they released when gun was announced, so very likely that was a pre-production gun possibly without the production stamping. I saw those same pics used on many dealer sites when the gun was listed for sale. The remaining pics look to be the actual gun that was sold.
Very common for dealers to use factory supplied file photos when listing guns.

This just solidifies what I was getting at, they don’t really break all that much, parts wear out more than anything. I’ve yet to have a broken part on an 870, yes I’ve replaced parts (extractor, safety, follower/spring, stock sets) but always because I wanted to. Never because I had to, any take off part is still like new and in my parts stash. The flexitab is the same as I look at it, nice upgrade from the old setup but not an issue on the one gun I own that has it.

You could say that for most things lately, supply and demand in the states has limited most things up here. Just look at reloading components, if you can find what you need it’s gone up in price a lot.
