Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Here is my 1640, Tradex bought in 30-06. In the photo it's wearing a K4 Weaver and 1907 sling. Currently it is between optics and I'd like to equip it with something modern but not over the top. I was thinking a S&B Klassik 6x42.
Accuracy is excellent, with 4064 and 168gr speer match bullets it shot MOA last time out. I floated the barrel and bedded the recoil lug and tang area. Not only that but I lightly sanded the original finish off and hand rubbed in what must be at least a hundred coats or more of BLO mixed with paste wax over the last year or so.
Currently its set up with an FP aperture sight. This is the first rifle I've loaded ammo for, and I'm going to hopefully try some different components once i get a new optic for it.

What you have is a 1640 Standard which probably was reblued. The bolt was, anyways.
 
Yes and thank you! I blued the bolt. The rest of it seems original. I don't see how anyone could buy an ugly cheap plasticky modern rifle when these are available for so little money. Under 1500 dollars I haven't seen a single new rifle that compares. A little work and the accuracy was on the money too.

Oddly enough I actually found a great deal on a Schmidt and Bender 6x42 last night and pulled the trigger. The catch is it is a 26mm tube, so I will have to find a solution to that. Apparently I can use the burris signature zee rings with the inserts. Unless anyone here has a better idea?
 
Been poking around this sticky ever since I seen a beauty of a 1900 in 6.5x55 on the EE that I sadly missed out on. Started looking at sponsor sites and I've noticed that the 1900 seems to be available with a Monte Carlo humpback stock and a straight version without. The both look pretty nice but prefer the look of the non MC version. For those of you experts out there, how do you like each stock flavour - pros cons etc. I'd end up with a scope so I'm interested in hearing about cheek weld comfort and such.

I’ve got a couple 1900 action rifles and both have the Monte Carlo stock and love them both. Cheek weld is great. I’m far from an expert though. Have no experience with the straight version.

Here is a pic of my 6.5x55 it’s a Viking Arms 1990 based on the AZ 1900. I wish I would have seen the husky 1900 in 6.5x55 in the EE. Love these rifles!

That looks like a beauty you have there! Nice to hear your feedback on the stock
 
The straight comb stocks are better fitted for open sights while the MC stocks were made for use with optic sights. But all in all, they both work with optic and open sights as long as you practice a bit.

Viking Arms used AZ1900 and Belgian barrels. One of the owner is still using AZ1900 actions and barreled actions for expensive rifles offering. The company's name is V.O. Vapen.
Zoli make "Husqvarna rifles" i.e. bavarian style under liscence. It is a lower end version of the AZ1900 using actions closer to the original design.
 
I don't know what the purpose of your quest is, but basically, they were proofed following the same method as CIP. The higher pressure rounds HVA ever chambered the FN98 are the 30-06 and the .270 Win

That means ;

30-06 Springfield

PT = Maximum Average Pressure
4050 bar / 58 740 PSI

PK = Maximum Statical Individual Pressure
4658 bar / 67 559 PSI

PE = Mean Proof Pressure
5060 bar / 73 389 PSI

EE = Proof Kinetic Energy
4300 Joules / 3 171 # - Foot


.270 Winchester

PT = Maximum Average Pressure
4300 bar / 62 366 PSI

PK = Maximum Statical Individual Pressure
4945 bar / 71 721 PSI

PE = Mean Proof Pressure
5375 bar / 77 958 PSI

EE = Proof Kinetic Energy
3840 Joules / 2 832 # - Foot

Not a Husky, but a FN 98 nevertheless. i have a FN Mauser Supreme chambered in 300 H&H. Cartridge is CIP rated at 62,000 psi.

I also have a Husky 146 in 9.3x57 and I use 58,000 psi as my MAP when developing loads on GRT.
 
The FN 98 commercial Mauser was used by Weatherby for all his first Mangums. But we don't treat those questions here as it's not the topic.

Then, the pressure rating of the action / rifle shouldn't be a concern, as per it was proofed prior to be sold. I would suggest you to stay within the safe published and tested loads and preferably use the same components the load is suggesting. Without testing, and even if you're using the latest reloading computer program, you'll always get an estimation and never get the real pressure of your load, unless you use the same test procedure as SAAMI or CIP. Stay safe and use your common sense as you get more experienced.

Hi Baribal,

I've got a pair of Swedish M96s.

One is a Stiga in 30-06, sporterized. Love it.

I have a question, and maybe you know of a resource, or can answer this.

I have a Carl G. M96 in 6.5x55. Sporterized. It would appear that is wasn't rebarreled, just cut and crowned.

My question is that the bolt has a longer "wing type" safety than I'm normally used to seeing, as well, the action has an additional safety, on the right side that can be easily used by using thumb.

Both are likely aftermarket additions.
I have a Husqvarna fn98 with a similar side safety. Mine locks both the bolt and trigger.
