Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

Worried about inconsistencies in the hole location of the rifles maybe?

I'd like just one of those holes used at least personally.

i gotta agree with you . they should have put the holes in and if the line up, great , if not then pressure fit. not many people wanna spend $150 on an accessory and then drill it themselves.

Something I always thought was funny about the T81 was if you take that stock off and put it back in a few times, I'm nearly surely you would have some wobble in your stock.

my concern as well with any sheet metal receiver.

TSE has 1913 stocks, 1913 buffer tube adapters, and 1913 folding buffer tube adapters in stock for their R18 that should work well with the Type 81 1913 stock mount, if someone is looking for an in-Canada source. Grey Birch Solutions, also in Canada, has a bit more expensive folding 1913 stock with variable length of pull and with adjustable cheek rest.

I was thinking that too. Do you think the sheet metal is thin enough to be warped by the force of folding and opening the stock repeatedly? Or would the rear trunnion absorb most of it?

Adriel the Hunting Gear Guy does a mini review of the Grey Birch folder at the beginning of his GB Takedown chassis review. He liked it, and in use with a fixed stock to 1913 adapter it could give fixed stock users a nice Com-Block VZ/AK/Type 81 ish skeleton folder look, but with the bonus of variable length of pull and an adjustable cheek riser. Plus it is Made in Canada.

You would have to put a WTS ad in the appropriate area of the EE and you could link to that here in this thread as far as I know. Any attempt at selling in open threads (unless you are a paid Business Member) will be shut down pretty fast.

WTS ad on the EE would be great - I, like many others, couldn't be bothered with Instagram or other social media platforms.

Not made in Canada anymore.

Please forgive my ignorance, but does the LMG version have its own geometry, like with the wood LMG handguard differing from the rifle's, or will it be identical to this run?

the inside of the LMG lower HG is wider to accommodate a thicker barrel plus the front furrule is squarish. they are not interchangeable.
