Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Don’t understand how 75 a day is possible. Are they conducting murder investigations for each one of us? Stamp the ####ing paper, send out the email and repeat. Should be 7500 a day.

Probably most of their time is taken answering phones from idiots who just can't wait for the transfer.
It's so counterproductive to phone them up every day and expect faster transfers.

Well they're accountable, so they gotta cover their asses. They're the ones getting the blame if something slips through when its not suppose to.
Also imagine if someone found out some politician pressured the CFO to bypass an established process to get guns into people's hands faster, people would be upset like that Brenda Lucki thing but worse, since Lucki is appointed and not elected.
Thats why I think no complaints to politicians or anyone will help, no one's gonna stick out their neck to help us on this. The reward of getting a few more votes vs the risk of it blowing up in their faces can't be compared.

They have different people answering phones . Supposedly only 2 strictly doing transfers

But imagine if those 2 people, or even 1 didn’t have to deal with all the emails/phones and did strictly transfers..we would atleast boost productivity on transfers 50% if one person didn’t have to deal with the phones

It seems to me like the general consensus is that approvals are being done in the order of the reference numbers. If I am not mistaken the number is generated when the seller calls in, and in the case of a personal transaction, forwarded to the provincial CFO when the buyer confirms it. Does anyone know if the buyer waiting on confirmation will result in a delay to the approval process? I'll know the answer in a few months, I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this yet. (I transferred two on the same call, one buyer confirmed within the day, and the other has been unable to get through for a couple of months.)

This is correct.

Private transfers though are being processed in a different manner and are not being approved in a linear numeric fashion. We need more data as well as anecdotal evidence to get a better grasp on the situation. I'm sure somebody else here could shed better light on the Private transfer situation though.

I bought two on May 31: one through a local shop (in-person) and one online through Cabela's. I got the confirmation for the first one at the end of June. Still haven't heard a thing about the second one. Very weird.

Cabela's called mine in a couple weeks after purchase. Not happy. Marstar same day.

If you can find the reference number of the missing transfer, that will tell you a lot.
