The Templar Thread, 5.56 by Crusader Arms / Spectre LTD

Not calling you a liar, just growing weary of the continuous claims of $1200 AR180 clones shooting 1 MOA with Norinco ammo all day, every day, never backed up by actual targets, with actual groupings. Sorry if I offended with my use of your specific, declared group sizes. They are siimply typical of what I frequently see claimed without evidence.

I agree 100% with what 84wh1 said in relation to people's unrealistic expectations of accuracy performance. 2 MOA is actually pretty good and is entirely acceptable for most military-style semi-autoatic rifle action and barrel combinations. Even 3 MOA is not uncommon (eg. Tavor/X95) and while "meh" it would still satisfy military specifications.

The fact I can get ~1.5 MOA groups out of my ACR with bulk 55gr Federal makes me happy, but that never stops somebody touting that they can make half inch groups with surplus :stirthepot2:

####, I can too if I get closer...

In my limited range time on a Sentinel I'd ballpark it somewhere between 2-2.5moa with 55gr Federal. Take that with a grain of salt but at least it's a number to work off of.

500 internet points to the man who posts pictures of the guts and piston.

My chief concern with the Templar is the placement of the Charging Handle, which I can see interfering with some optics mounts. Time and an opportunity to mess with the rifle will tell the tale. I will probably pick one up to compare with the R18, as I am curious to see where (if anywhere) corners were cut to meet the 2K pricepoint.

Thats a well written piece. Point is well made about the samples being better fit and finish than production. I like the Templar with the trigger and folding stock option.

Just a note that Crusader is confident enough in the Templar's design they are opening a factorum in the U.S. to allow them to sell into that very competitive market. I can't remember on which post, but they stated this on an Instagram comment.

Just had a thought, do you think Warhammer 40000 would be up for some cross promotion with Crusader? The Templar does look bolter-esque, and a guy in Space Marine armor at Shotshow with an MLOK chainsword bayonet on the Templar would be cool.

In my experience the charging handle location isn't an issue, at least when used with a non-qd cantilevered mount and a LPVO.
