Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

I'm so tired of this. Purchased June 1. Dealer didn't initiate till July 7th. We will be waiting forever. So lame. And my second gun I bought at end of August I don't even want to think about when that will ever get approved.

July 7th or June 7th? Cause if it was July 7th after you purchased it on June 1st - HOLY CRAP.......what the he!! were they waiting for??????

If they continue to process at the rate we have seen over the last week we could see a purchase made today get approved in May 2023.

From July 27 to Sept 9 they were averaging 234 reference numbers per day (that includes weekends), 1638 a week.

From Sept 10 to Sept 16 they have averaged 586 reference numbers per day, 4102 per week. This is skewed by the Saturday and Sunday overtime, but that doesn't explain all of it.

I was wondering if there is some background noise here. AFAIK transfers from importer to business use the same reference numbers which get approved right away. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. It is possible that a case of guns just needs a single reference number. Maybe a retailer can chime in here.

Since those numbers are already completed we would see an acceleration through certain parts of the reference # range.

I'm assuming by the 3rd and 4th gun stores were starting to order from the importers in significant numbers. A lot of the first few days were moving guns out the door to individuals that would require the Ontario CFO to process.

Trying to figure out if what we are seeing here is sustainable or a flash in the pan.

You might want to change dealers. These days next or same day initiations are standard.
Also decent dealers send out ref #s once initiated or when you ask for them.

I purchased one on June 7th that didn't initiate until August 8th! And when I gave the store a 'WTF' I was sorely scolded.

This is why I don't shop anywhere that would not give them out. If I didn't have a ref number in a few days I would be cancelling the order. It's very clear after the past few months which dealers we all should support and which to avoid.

I purchased one on Sept 1st from a retailer and the transfer still has not been started. I emailed and called twice. Their response was they are all hands on deck trying to get through thousands of purchases. At this rate I don't expect to get the gun till next year if at all.

My purchase on June 3rd 59048xx Business in BC to me in ON hasn't been completed yet.
Same with a friend ordering from the same shop and his was initiated on June 2.

I think they're randomly grabbing through the pile to fudge the numbers. Said friend says it's unlikely they were aware of us being able to track them, so they're making things look better after they became aware at TACCOM.

I've never received email confirmations for transfers, so it's possible the retailer just hasn't shipped them yet or something.

Yea I think they've maybe added a resource and they're processing different "stacks" in parallel. But that theory doesn't really make sense in a digital world with a digital queue, unless they're doing excel or something and splitting by row number. That would be hilariously bad. We'll see if we get more 5902s to 5904s.
Either way, one more OT weekend and I might get my first soon.

Order in

Arms East Sept 4. They said they initiated transfer that day

Business to private Ontario
Sept 4 60277xx

Some stats

Order to another sponsor on Aug 19 and the difference between those to transfer numbers to Sept 4 is over 22,300 so approx 1396 transfer applications per day.

May 30 purchase (June 2 transfer) - Sept 4 there have been 131203 transfer ref numbers assigned for an average of 1352 per day, so really there have been ebbs and flows in sales but they on average have been consistent from the announcement date to now.

I am sure we will see another flurry of activity as parliament reconvenes and C21 seems imminent and dealers start to fire sale current stock.

Whow over a month to get transfer started,
Now here you are and what can you really do? Complain nicely…
they still have to mail out your package and if ya piss them off too much?
Be sure to call them out after ya get your Guns.

Ordered June 1 #5906###. Business to individual. I suspect that the company might not have started the transaction till several days later as I see some members here who ordered June 2 or 3 but whose reference number appear to be before mine. Hmmmmmm?
