Ruger PC Carbine Guide and Discussion

The Ruger® PC Carbine™ is practical and versatile, built to excel in a variety of environments, from plinking to competition shooting. Ruger has added its unique fingerprint to the Pistol-Caliber (PC) Carbine, with the convenience of simplified takedown plus interchangeable magazine wells for common Ruger and GLOCK magazines.
The durable glass-filled nylon synthetic stock features soft rubber buttpad spacers, which allow the rifle to be properly fitted for differently sized shooters. The grip features a proprietary texture, for enhanced control. Sling swivel studs allow for rapid sling attachment.
A 18.6” cold hammer-forged chrome-moly steel heavy contour barrel features ultra-precise rifling, and provides exceptional accuracy, longevity, and easy cleaning. Fluting sheds unnecessary weight and allows for quick handling. The top-mounted receiver Picatinny rail allows for quick optic mounting (not included), and a forward-mounted accessory rail allows for a variety of under-barrel accessories such as lights or lasers (not included).
Easy takedown enables quick separation of the barrel/forend assembly from the action, for ease of transportation and storage. The dead blow action features a custom Tungsten dead blow weight that shortens bolt travel and reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise. The bolt is machined from heat-treated chrome-moly steel, to ensure strength, structural integrity, and durability.
FAQS
First and foremost, make sure to read the manual. ALWAYS read the manual to anything you buy, it makes a huge difference always.
What caliber is the PCC available in?
In Canada at the moment only 9mm, but in the USA it is also available in .40S&W. Hopefully we can try that soon.
What magazines does the PCC take?
The PCC comes preinstalled with the Security 9 magwell, and comes with 1 accompanying magazine. However, it also comes with a glock magwell included that can be super easily installed; take down the carbine, remove the receiver from the chassis, then just pop out the magwell and change it with the glock one, the manual gives better instruction. This allows you to use any glock compatible mag out there with your new carbine. Further, there is also a CZ magwell available from Innovation Armoury, and that will be linked below in the
Parts section.
What version should I buy?
That really depends on you and what you want. If you are going to completely rebuild it, just get the base model. But if you just plan on throwing on a scope and mlok grip then go with either mlok models. Some places also offer the carbine already in the Magpul backpacker chassis.
Can you customize and rebuild it like the Ruger 10/22 platforms?
Yes, and no. The PCC has a few aftermarket parts out there already, but no where close to what the 10/22 and other AR platforms have in terms of parts. They unfortunately are not compatible with AR handguards due to the takedown nature of the carbine, and thus have limited selection in that regard. However, some of the aftermarket chassis do offer AR part compatibility, so you can easily use buffer tubes, buttstocks, beavertail grips, and mlok/pic rail accessories that you have laying about from other builds. Below we will have a list of manufacturers of PCC parts that are currently available in Canada.
Awesome, I got my PCC now. But why is it so heavy?
The barrel is a chonky boi, you can find a replacement one at the Taccom website but it is not compatible many, if any, handguards other than their own. Make sure to read all disclaimers when buying any parts, especially when choosing to import from the USA. This guide is only to help find info, we are not responsible for anything that may happen when ordering. Remember, always do your own (extensive) research.
Is there anything you recommend I do first?
Change the magwell, wipe off all the excess grease cause it comes drippin, and get a replacement trigger and internals cause the stock ones are very meh (M*Carbo or TandemKross).
