CZ Bren2 Owner: Info, Pics, Mods

Looking forward to some range reports

My 14" Bren 2 produces 1.5 to 2 MOA, 5-round groups at 100m using PMC 62gr XTac bulk ammo. The group sizes and placement are consistent whether the bore is cold or hot, indicating proper heat treatment of the CHF Barrel. Reliability over the initial 400 (or so) rounds has been utterly flawless as you would expect of a semi-automatic sporting rifle with a modern miliitary heritage. The ergonomics are superb and concerns over the placement of the ambi Bolt Catch/Release are readily resolved through proper training.

So I'm patiently waiting for my Bren 11", and I'm looking for suggestions setting it up as an SBR.

Looking to pick up the Sig Romeo5XDR Predator with the Juliet 3x magnifier.

What would you ask suggest for a light mounted at handguard? I don't want to replace the stock handguard as I actually like it. It's small but I'm a small guy so it fits perfect

I've got a aimpoint comp4 on my bren. I also have a mlok offset light mount on it. My surefire scout light is easily operated with the tail cap but with being mounted on the left side it blocks the sling point. So I will move it to the right side

I put a malkoff light on an arisaka inline scout mount on mine

Nicer than it will be in a week or two with the longer barrel, sigh. Seems like a travesty to swap a short CHF barrel for a long, ungainly, heavier button-rifled one.

I understand your dilemma. Guessing you are getting a longer NR length barrel fitted? If so then you will have a NR Bren and you will still have the shorter barrel.........

I handled a 11.5" Bren today and it just felt "Right".

The 14" barrelled Bren 2 handles superbly as well! It is a very nimble and lightweight Modern Sporting Rifle that easily reaches out to 400m for hits on IPSC steel.

I was intentionally ignoring these as I am already well covered for rifles in this category and the Bren somehow looked "chunky" to me (I imagined heavy) but after handling it I realized this was incorrect, the rifle feels balanced / good. All the controls were well placed and it would probably be very natural to shoot.

I think for the type of shooting I do the 14.5" would make most sense (Some competitions I do involve reaching out a little to a few hundred metres) as the extra velocity wouldn't hurt.

Well, I got this thing back from Dlsk, and I'm actually impressed - the barrel's definitely longer than it should be for the whole aesthetic of the firearm, but it doesn't look as goofy as I expected. More importantly, although Dlask didn't use a pencil-profile barrel, the profile they DID use isn't overly heavy and the balance of the rifle remains decent - with the optic I had set aside for it, it still feels reasonably agile. I swapped out the stock for a G36 version, as the cheekweld with the factory stock was too high for the very-low optic setup I wanted.

You are right - that doesn't look all that bad! I think that the G36 stock helps with the overall aesthetic including the longer Barrel, by being a tad longer and quite a bit more slender looking than the factory Buttstock. In other words, the G36 Buttstock knd of stretches out the whole rifle, if that makes any sense. In any case, the overall effect is pretty decent!

Here's hoping that the new Barrel performs well for you on the range. Give us a report, as I am curious how your accuracy will fare versus the factory Barrels.

I like the look of it with the thicker profile barrel and no faux suppressor.
All be it the faux suppressor adds a bit more character to the rifle but the oem brake isn't bad at all.
The rifle being so light and nimble before has a bit more weight added from the new barrel but it's still nimble and easy to wield

Dlask definitely does good work

That looks really good - definitely looks better with the faux suppressor IMHO, but I really didn't want any more weight up front - I'm old and fat, so keeping the weight down is increasingly important!

I agree - the aesthetic of the G36 stock goes better with the long, skinny NR barrel.

I should get back to the range in a few weeks - I'll provide an update at some point!

The faux suppressor does add a significant amount of unnecessary weight to the already heavy barrel.

This feels absolutely amazing tho -

And this is the MS stock I was refer to you earlier about

Definitely looks better with the faux suppressor. What's the difference between that stock and mine? Also, where'd you get the rail set?

The difference between your (dog leg) & mine (US MS version) is that the dog leg is a bit shorter and me having shorter arms helps with reach etc....that's really it. Plus the other i have i wanna match lol.

The rail set is from Preston Precision out of the US. They ship direct so no worries there

Cool, thanks, I'll have to check into those rails.

re the stock - one of the two Bren2s I'm still waiting for is supposed to be coming with 'your' MS style stock. If I like it better than my 'dog leg' one I'll message you and see if you still want to trade.

Sounds good.
To maybe sweeten the deal I just found a spare HK ump barrel roll pin I can toss ya lol....

No worries Rog. We'll talk later
