Isn’t the 30-06 61K and the 270 65K also? Same case. Like a 300 PRC is not much better than a properly throated 300WM.

The 7RM is imo the most useful Alberta cartridge. I wouldn’t throat it deep to run heavy match bullets but I can see the benefit to increase chamber size and performance. Some things just aren’t broke enough to fix. And that’s where these new heavily marketed cartridges sit in my mind.

I think being able to buy a rifle and ammo off the shelf is a great win for most people. Most hunters and shooters don't get custom rifles and don't handload. Just like everything new though, I'm sure it will take some time before 7PRC rifles and ammo become more common.

that’s what you have to look at when thinking of the 7mm PRC pandering to the masses, this way anyone can buy a rifle and shoot any weight of bullet offered in the 7mm/.284 category, it’s throated to accept right up to the 195 grners, nothing groundbreaking but maybe a slim improvement over the 7 Rem Mag, in the end no deer will know the difference only the deer nut behind the rifle will know !
I said nothing about throating it deep. But it has a longer than SAAMI throat.
