Hi everyone
been gassing for a weatherby mk v, in 6.5 CM (I know...) or 30-06/308
Whats everyone's thoughts on the weatherbys?
Grossly over priced for what you get in my opinion. Their wood stocks have nicely painted grain on them to make them pretty and their blueing is nice for sure. The MK V is not renowned for accuracy, to some this is not as important as the looks. To me accuracy is everything. YMMV
My opinion as well. I have owned two Mark V rifles, and accuracy was very disappointing. On the other hand, my Howa made Vanguards were more accurate, for less than half the price.
soon to be banned by name in the g4 ... like all ruger number 1 ...
look up the list if you do not believe ...

Soon to be banned.
Again, only if the muzzle energy can exceed 10,000 joules...
You're missing a big part in your statement.
This is the heading pertaining to the Weatherby Mark V and many others...
"96. Any firearm capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10 000 joules — other than one referred to in item 12, 13, 14, 20, 22 or 30 of this schedule or one designed exclusively for the purpose of neutralizing explosive devices — including the:"
Any rifle than can safely shoot .30-06 can be rechambered to a cartridge that can exceed 10,000 joules at least once. That's the biggest issue with C21
But it's not banned unless it exceeds that muzzle energy. The only weatherby chambering that meets the criteria is the 460 Weatherby Mag.

The only disparaging news I ever heard of the Mk V is a variance in trigger mechanism material.
That the West German built rifle used a synthetic material in the trigger housing that is prone to cracking.
However the Japanese version actually used a metal trigger housing(?) Pretty much impossible to crack in the same place.
Again, only if the muzzle energy can exceed 10,000 joules...
It says "capable of". Doesn't,mean it has to be in that cartridge. - dan
Explain the Brazilian Mauser 1908, Mauser Sporter and Ruger No 1? To my knowledge, none of these were ever dactory chambered in a 10,000 Joule cartridge.
