These comments amuse me, clearly the average shooter hasn’t visited their LGS lately and looked at comparisons to factory ammunition, I mean you act like we are back in the good old days of $30-$60 per box or 20!
Just run the numbers on what that primer can be loaded into.
Typical match grade factory ammunition of lesser accuracy (for example Berger Match Grade Classic Hunter in .300 Winchester Magnum) is $140 x 1.05 tax = $147 per 20pcs x 5 = $735 per 100 rounds or $7.35 each
Lapua .300 Win Mag Box of 100 = $215
Berger 30 Cal 185 Gr Classic Hunter = $100
Hodgdon H4350 67gr x100 = 6,700gr or 1lb = $90
Federal Gold Metal Match GMM 215M Large Rifle Magnum Primers x100 pcs = $60 (foolish?)
Total: $465 x 1.05 tax = $488 or $4.88 each
With the delta at $247 per 100 the price of primers would have to go to over $300 per 100 or $3000 per brick just to get to on par with less accurate factory loaded ammunition today.
Factor in that the brass can be loaded about 10x and extrapolate to 1000 round numbers:
$215
$1000
$900
$600
Total: $2715 x 1.05 tax = $2,850 for 1000 pcs or $2.85 each
Vs
$7,350 for 1000 pcs or $7.35 each
Still only 38% of the cost of less accurate factory ammo.
Ask yourself would it really matter if the price was $0.06 vs 0.60 meaning $2.31 vs $2.85 a round when the comparable alternative is $7.35?
Well, who is the fool now.
