PRIMERS at 500 per K

I have a brick of Federal 210 I'm also looking to sell. Would appreciate a value sanity check.

After reading this thread considering putting them up for auction...

I don't know if there a sanity check in a world that has gone insane. One thing about an auction is it's fair market price for that moment in time. I've got a couple cases sitting at auction right now, and although the bidding isn't at some of the prices that have been got, I can take some solace in that they are sitting at about 8 times what I paid with 5 days left to go. Edit; now 15 times, a day laterYou also don't have to feel like a primer shark; because people are free to not bid or not even look if they so choose.

I would suggest that if you are selling just 1000 primers at auction to list them as 300, 300 and 400 lots since there are more people who would rather (or are able) spend 300 bucks than 1000 to keep shooting. The guy who wants them all is of course still able to buy them all.

As a counter-point; if you truly believe that there are never going to be more at normal prices or at all; then they are priceless and you should keep them.

Counter-counter-point, if you believe that there will be a time when supplies and prices correct then you can buy them back at the lower price.

Counter-counter-counter point; if you knew what my buddy flat out sold his primers to a dealer for, you wouldn't be in a hurry to get rid of your's unless you flat out don't need them.

Where can I sell at 500$/k ?

I'll sell enough to buy a house. j/k but I doubt primers go for 500/k in any meaningful amount. If there was an easy way to unload large quantity for that price, there would be enough people like me unloading their stash to actually lower that price. In the meantime, even at some inflated price like 120/k, the shipping cost on dangerous goods just eats too much of that price.

$120/k is a bargain now. They are selling on several auction sites for $300-$600/k. supply and demand has tipped the scales.

People will pay a lot of money for a hobby. We're not talking necessities of life here, nobody needs these primers to survive, they just want them real bad.

I see an ad on ####### for 27000 primers. Asking price is $28000 and there is a sold banner on the ad. Jeebus I hope whoever’s speculating on that is wrong.

Some people are paying high amounts for primers. I had two people come to me and offer what I thought was high crazy stupid prices. I didn’t have them for sale but if they wanted them and willing to make an offer I couldn’t refuse. $100 per flat for federal 215 m. So what would you do if someone is telling you they will pay $100 ? I took the money.

ARE people really paying 500 per 1000 for large rifle primers or is this just greedy guys hoping to cash in.

Sadly it called "capitalism folks" supply & demand...everything is in short supply and the norm is to get "gouged" right now. At the moment Ammo is a rip off, reload supplies are a rip off, buying firearms is a rip off. I am just going to wait awhile & use up most of what I have left, as long as there are those willing to pay these prices they will only keep going up. Stop buying and they come down. I am starting to wish I had got into flintlocks a few years back when I tried some outLaugh2

How do you guys ship them as dangerous goods? Do you just ship through Canada Post and shut up about it? Doesn't seem like a good idea.

If I sell 100 primers for 120$, it's an outrageous price imho (meaning I'd sell immediately given the opportunity), but if it cost 65$ to ship them as dangerous goods, I still get to keep only 55$, which is no better than the price it's gonna get if/when we see good times again.

I'm not saying I could resolve the current drought by myself, but if I could get 1$/primer after shipping costs, I would unload a couple thousands. But nobody in my area would pay that kind of price, so shipping has to come into play.

I went to a gun store yesterday and spotted a box of Nosler Combined Technology, 30 cal, 180 grain......$84.99. Of course the cash remained in my pocket. There are places selling partitions for less money. Churchill quoted, "democracy is the worst form of government, excepts all other have been tried.".................this quote is equal to capitalism. Capitalism is not prefect, however better than other types of governing.

The prices of primers is really sad. Out of interest, I looked through some old Wholesale Sports catalogues. The newest I have is from 2011 and the price for 5,000 primers was: CCI 200 $170, LR BR2 $284; Fed 215 $180, 215M $210. 1000 primers was listed for $35 - $60 depending on brand. I should have invested all of my money in primers instead of the markets.

I recently sold a small amount of Fed 215 to a fellow in desperate need for $10/100. Wasn't really wanting to sell any but did so to help him out.

I heard a guy at work in the dry 3 weeks ago talking about a line on large rifle primers. I talked to him later that day and got my name on the list. As of 4 days ago I am the proud owner of a brick of Remington LRP for $150. Obviously it's more than I paid for the last brick I bought (pre-shmozzle), but I couldn't say no to availability. The guy had 8000 primers and initially had a plan to only keep 500 for himself, but after seeing how interested everyone was and hearing stories of how impossible they are to find, he decided to keep 2000 for himself
