Tikka prices dropped by a $100

I have the Vanguards and they are excellent rifles at 539.00. Even a nicer rifle with the wood or sub-moa stock, but then its a whole different price range. I don't find the stock on the the Vanguard any better than the Tikka, entry plastic, is entry plastic. The Vanguard is 1.25 lbs heavier, trigger is not nearly as nice and its not free floated. The Tikka feeds a little smoother. Both are equally accurate with the right load. So if you are looking for a light rifle with detachable mag then tikka, or if you want a less recoiling in large calibers then the Vanguard. The Vanguard deluxe is a beautiful rifle and would look good in the 257 Wby.....

In my opinion, the T3 needs to come down to a $400 price tag to be competitive with the 200, ATR or other budget rifles. I have bashed the Tikka's in the past, and now I am more educated on them. If you really want to debate these rifles, by all means buy one. They are cheap enough now to buy one just for s#its and giggles.

thats the entire point ive been making all along in this thread - that they need to come down $100 more in price to be a viable alternative to other economy rifles like the SPS/Savages which are all cheaper. every time ive posted in a Tikka thread ive said that theres nothing wrong with the rifle but it is $200 overpriced. well, they dropped the price by $100 so we are halfway there.
if the blued cost $479 and the stainless $559 i would buy one.

The same could be said for the Remington wood versions. They jumped in price about 10-20% last year. The CDL is 825-875 as compared to the Vanguard sporter for 699.00. The versions that are not the SPS's are overpriced for what you are getting. I would pay the extra 50 bucks and get the Vanguard deluxe, which in my opinion is a lot nicer than the CDL.

The CDL? Now there is something that is worthy of a brutal bashing. I had one in 30-06. It had most of the problems mentioned by Dogleg and maybe a few more. One thing you can count on with those tupperware guns with the exception of the sps, is that you can lay your money down and have a very high expectation of it being a good shooter.

CDL? If I wanted nicer wood, I would go with the delux vanguard or savage classic or anything else. What I have come to expect with remington is a project gun.

Now you fellows that actually have an sps that shoots really good without any tweeking you are truly blessed and the Good Lords face is shining upon you:)

I think the Savage American classic looks good for 669.00. Though I would actually like to see in one of the gunshops and check it out vice having to be surprised in the mail, but there price is right. I had a Vanguard sporter in 308 that had expectionally nice wood on it, most I have seen have very nice wood for the price. The factory target measured .400, so not all are pulled for sub-moa's. Sold it without shooting it, had to liquidate some funds at the time. Now I regret it.
