Christmas Sale GNG Carcano Moschetto

When they are gone, they will go up in price, just like every other import has. I remember people calling $125 m48 and m44 mosins a waste of money, junky, etc. Not long ago... Maybe 15 or 20 years. At that time I was buying 91/30s under $100.

I remember french berthier a under $250, mas 36's for Around 275. All within the last 20 years.

Things change. As always. Unless the turd bans more rifles, which he would do in a heartbeat if he thought 5 more soccer moms would vote lieberal.

I think it was 2011 when Westrifle was selling 91/30s for $105, with pictures of the individual rifle/maker/date.

Did you refinish that top rifle? Never personally seen one with wood that nice

I had never really thought about it until I took it out to post this photo, But someone very well could have at one time before I owned it, I bought this at a Gunshow in 09 for $60, it also could be how it left the factory after being shortened but I have my doubts, but its also the nicest metal I've seen on one, after all this Carcano talk I've learned a lot on the history, also noticed the rear battle sight of this 91/24 was ground down only leaving the the adjustable sight I noticed when I bought it years ago it shot incredibly high, so I notched where the OG battle sight would have been and it put me right on at 100, I've found a new sight base I'll most likely order so I can have the original fixed battle sight as well as the adjustable.

I have been looking at milsurps all week and noted this w ww.generalgun.com/product-page/carcano-carbine-6-5-carcano/ which I believe is the actual cheapest retail Carcano I can find.

Bore might be in worse shape but it looks to be a comparable deal.

Well, someone snoozed and lost. It was on hold for someone until the 24th and they never picked it up. My buddy who lives in Windsor just picked this one up this morning. Its not on their website anymore, so i assume it was the only one. $249 plus taxes, $281.37 all in. He is coming down to visit his parents soon, so I will get some pics and a report on it when he is here.

My PAL has not been checked yet so I doubt they have looked at the transaction (mine 25 Dec).

If I recall, someone mentioned in a post they were closed until today?

Here is my friend's (hopefully mine shortly), any comments would be appreciated.
The bore is a bit dark, but strong rifling, overall very good considering.

So I will bring up a blast from the past. I didnt know the guy all that well, but ran into him on a regular basis. He was much older than me and I was just getting into milsurps at the time. He was a big Carcano collector, italian guy named Steve. Collection numbering into the dozens if not breaking into the 3 digit level. Apparently the collection was quite nice. I wouldnt know as i had no interest in "crappy, italian rifles".

There are a few members on the board who knew him better. Hopefully the chime in. Nothing of huge interest to most, but thought I'd share and give a bit of tribute to an old time collector.
