Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

I'm confused. Why would somebody in law enforcement or military need an ATC? I thought they were exempted during the course of their duties?

Can you give some examples?

Every year you have to requalify to keep your ATC. Some of us ATC holders are not allowed to practice with our duty pistols. So we do need to purchase our own pistol to practice at a range

I just initiated a transfer for a pistol to a co worker last week. I told him it will be another 6-8 months before he can pick it up.

Theoretically there shouldn't be many transfers after October 19th, so should be like end of April?

So I looked on the RCMP IWS sight and saw that my handgun was now in my name 2 days ago, but have not seen the transfer email that I can send onto the dealer yet.

I know some have had the same experience. How many days did it take to get the actual email?

I work for an armed federal agency and have friends who work for other armed agencies (municipal, provincial, and federal). Literally none of us are required to buy our own pistol and/or practice on their own time. I'm not saying you're being untruthful, but what you're telling me is just really weird.

Are you willing to share the name of which agencies operate like this?


Why would you need an ATC? Couldn't you just drive to a range to practice with an ATT?

For my last transfer I noticed the same on a Wednesday and received the email on I believe Saturday. It should be within a week of it showing up on the RCMP website.
