The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

Interesting. I was gonna buy some more but thought Id ask what others had experienced first.

My FX9 came with one. The empty mag seems to function properly but I haven't tried a fill mag yet (not time to get to a range lately)

The issue with most Glock mags it has been my experience is the springs are too weak and don't lock the bolt back on the last round. I have ordered wWolf + 10% springs for my Glock OEM magscin the hopes the mags will work with the stronger springs.

That hasn't been my experience, although two of my pined mags do work. All my 10 rounders don't and three of my unpinned 33 rounders don't work pinned or unpinned.

The issues I'm seeing are inconsistent according to Wolverine's post.
I.e. either your FX-9 or the your mag are slightly different than mine
Also the issue can be mitigated if you're willing to to a minor mod to the mag with a file.

Wolverine's post is here

For what it is worth I've had good luck with PMAG 17 GL9s and SGM mags both 17 and 33 rounders. (1 of my SGM 17s is out of spec and always fails to hold the bolt open, but the other 4 are good and so is the 1, 33 I have)
Genuine Glock mags have been less than spectacular for bolt hold open for me. (Mine are all unpinned 10 rounders)
But I do have a Glock 17 and an old Thureon GA PCC to use them in - so, not a big deal for me.

This, The Magpul pinned mags, weather it be the G19 sized, the 17 sized or the 21 and 27rounders work well where as any factory 10rd will fail to hold the bolt open. Best to stick with the pinned magpuls.

It really is a case of finding what works and going with it. The whoile issue I believe involves the amount of spring tension the mag has. Clearly the unpinned Glock 10rd mags won't work. Because the pinned Glock mags do leads me to believe the stronger Wolf springs I have coming may result in the unpinned 10 rounders working. I'll report here if they do or don't work with the stronger springs.

The three Korean 33 rounders now work with 1" plugs in them but the plugs reduce the capacity by 5 rounds. I am going to do up some plugs ar 3/4 and 1/2" to see if the mags will work with the shorter plugs. I'll get back a few more rounds by doing so.

The larger capacity mags are for use in the US. I have them pinned to 10 rounds when in use in Canada. If C21 passes that will change.

I have one of those Korean 33rd mags (pinned) and it was pretty consistant at locking the bolt back. I did slam it in on a closed bolt and it barfed all the rounds out the bottom. Very strange, no damage to the bottom of the mag or the base plate and once reassembled I was un able to replicate it.

Woo-hoo! The FX-9 continues to be available with the Liberal's retraction of their ammendment to Bill C21. Now to just get the rest of the bill scrapped and the Libs turfed!!!

Anyone happen to know if the ALG ACT trigger works in the FX-9? I imagine it would since it’s basically a regular mil spec trigger but wouldn’t mind confirmation on that.

I *think* any AR style trigger will fit / work in the FX9 but the issue is the PCC blowback system is much more violent so the dedicated PCC triggers (like the Triggertech) are engineered differently to handle this.

I went through the same dilemma (wanted a Geisselle SD3G trigger but ended up with the Triggertech for this reason). Food for thought.

Sniffer was the Triggertech significantly better than the stock trigger ie trigger reset, lighter etc.

Yup, cleaned the trigger up a ton. Lighter, way less creep, breaks crisp, and less over travel.

I bought mine direct from Triggetech in the Black Friday sale, would recommend.

Just an update on my mag stop issue. Wolverine is going to send me a new bolt catch part. I'll have my 'Smith install it. I suspect that is where the problem is. I should have the part late next week. I should add a shout out to Heather at Wolverine. Excellent communication combined with a great service attitude. I'll keep Wolverine, top of mind, when looking for shooting products.

Interesting thanks for the response, might just dish out the extra for a trigger tech.

Just curious as to what the trigger tech trigger does or will do that the stock trigger doesn't. I know for playing the games a lighter trigger might help some with the longer shots in 2 or 3 gun but I find the stock one works fine for shooting IDPA distances out to a max. of 30 yards..for scenario stages 20 yards. The only time I really notice the trigger is when I am either dry firing the gun or shooting off a bench. If you are really fast on the trigger I guess the shorter reset and lighter trigger would help a bit. I thought the biggest concern with a lighter AR trigger is the violence of the recoil and resulting danger of bump firing the gun.

I have about 500 rds thru my FX9 and that much again dry firing and the stock trigger has really smoothed out.

Has anyone tried Canadian BDX ammo out your fx9? Results?

9mm Luger 124 FMJ Ammunition GOLD LINE
Or
9mm Luger, 124 E/TMJ Ammunition (Bronze Line)

I have been using the bdx nothing but problems and it shot very dirty lots of left over powder in the lower and everywhere else for that matter... ( which is unfortunate as I was hoping for a 32 cent per round vs 50 c per round option).

on a side note I did get this ammo from a friend who was getting out of the 9mm game and he wasn't sure if it was bronze or gold line or how old it is. it is brass though.
im going to try the blazer 115gr brass now.
might call bdx and have a chat with curt and order some new stuff but undecided on that..
