Worst rifle you ever bought?

Wr762 by Kodiak defence. About 200 rounds down the pipe and the gas block blew forward several inches. It was a brand new rifle.

Had the same thing happen on vz58 in .223. Just a pin came out put a new roll pin in and was back in business.

Probably the worst rifle I ever purchased was a Kimber Montana, chambered for the 270WSM. The rifle functioned well and nice to carry. However, it was to flighty, kicked like a mule and I could not achieve any great groupings. Gun is to light with it's pencil barrel chambered for a magnum cartridge.

By far the worst I ever bought was a Remington 700 Sendero SF II in 7mm Rem Mag. Right out of the box it wouldn't extract the spent round. I sent it back to Remington, and they said the extractor was worn out. Surprising since it had a grand total of 4 rounds fired through it. They replaced it, and when I got it back, it still wouldn't extract anything. The most expensive single shot I've ever owned. Traded it in shortly afterwards.

Ithica 22 lever. Went through 3 of them. Bought new from Simpson Sears. 1st had head space issues, kept blowing back in my face, 2nd couldn't hit target, discovered bent barrel, 3rd had 2 different pieces of wood and was missing the sights. These were new in the box, finally gave up and got my money back. This was only 40+ years ago.

Original Bushmaster semi-auto rifle in 1982. It functioned reliably, but was a rattly, extremely crude POS that was "Minute of Barn" accurate. This, when I could have bought an HK33 or AR15Sporter 2 (my second rifle, never looked back). Here is a rather poor pic of the fugly beast, which I quickly sold off at a loss:

Had a single shot gun 12 gau that was given to me . The lock was broken / worn and would open when fired. Smak ya right in the snozz ! I gave it back . Got a old rifle that had a wad of tinfoil stuffed between the stock and action to take up the slack ( replacement stock ?) And I think it had been reblued with shoe polish, there was a lot of brass shavings in the action and mag , the bolt would rattle if you shook it when it was closed . There was no caliber stamp on it no where ? I never had the nerve to try and shoot it. It had seven tapped holes on the top of the receiver/ barrel ? Two were off set ? It was a long time a go when I didn't have much coin to throw a round , I think that I payed 25.00$ for it and ended up trading it off . It might have been an old mauser .

Worst gun would be a Remington-Marlin 45/70. Everything on the gun rattled like crazy. Just a piece of junk.

Same here.

Not too long ago, I bought a 45/70 1895 marlin cowboy from one of the "supporting" dealers here.
It arrive with two completely different pieces of wood, the butt and forearm did not match the least in colour and grain. Also the forearm was lose and wiggly.

The "supporting" dealer informed me, that I should have asked if I wanted a matching wood set, and the lose forearm is easily fixed with a piece of card board as a shim.

The POS went back, but I had to pay for shipping, so much for the support from the supporting dealer.
The supporting dealer received negative feedback and he will never see another penny from me.

Mine was a LAW rifle. VERY muzzle heavy, slam fires, balanced like crap and failed on the fifth day of its first hunt.

Second worse, was a Sako A7. Magazine failed to hold cartridges on day 2 of first hunt and was very finicky.

Over the years I have purchased 12-13 new Remington 700's I would rate them as the 12-13 worst rifles purchases I ever made, ever single one of them needed work either to make them shoot or even function properly

then why the hell did you buy another one...a *DOZEN* times!?

This sounds a lot like more of a sad rich guy humblebrag than an actual complaint...

To fire this thread back up, the worst on reflection with the benefit of the lens of time; Norinco M305. Bizarre mix of good steel and near pot metal bolt, worst wood stock I’ve ever seen, barrel index off and sight leaning. It was actually dangerous on account of the soft bolt, and easily rates as the worst as a result.

The worst I actually expected something of: Empire Arms .450 Rigby. Wouldn’t feed anything that wasn’t round nose and I’ve made a few rifles feed that didn’t want to in my day. For a $10k range rifle with gorgeous execution, massive let down, and the only Mauser pattern I’ve worked that jammed on me routinely.

My worst was back in the early 80's I bought a new Remington Nylon 66 from the local small town hardware store...worst jamomatic ever :(

Bought 2 of First run of the Wk180s, big hype, was super excited, total hunk of junk, jam-o-matic, charging handle broke, bolt was eating away at the receiver, sent to Kodiak said it was normal, never again, I'd pay tripple if it worked and was reliable.

Nice necrothread... interesting to go through all the pages to see who's in pink or otherwise no longer with us.

My worst I think was the first new rifle I ever bought for myself... BSA CF2. Nothing but problems with that gun. Broken mag latch (plastic), broken firing pin, a bolt guide that would slide back and tie up the bolt handle so you couldn't close it...

Worst part is that I went into the shop looking for a Ruger 77 or some sort of Mauser, and got talked into buying this thing. Still burns my asz.

Detatchable mag? My cousin had one; jammed all the time. I had one with a tube mag; fed 100% of the time.
