BCL Has a 9mm carbine design coming?!

Almost free to shoot? Let me know where you are getting these really cheap reloading components. Only thing free you can get is picking up range brass.

Last I've seen it was close to 300$ to buy 1000rds of 9mm at a store. Reloading is easy 250$ with today's prices on components. Oh yeah and the several hundred dollars for the actual reloading gear.

What's a cheaper, non surplus, center fire option today? I don't even consider .22lr cheap anymore if that puts things into perspective..... :(

That said if a guy was smart he'd stock up on what remains of the (also gone up in price) surplus ammo out there, I doubt it's going to get cheaper or more available in the next 10 years.

Then a guy could hope that BCL irons out their wrinkles and comes out with some rifles chambered in 7.62X25.

If you use Winchester 231 powder. I have like 12 lbs of it and Camaro 124 grain bullets buy them in bulk. And if you uses the cheap Camaro primers it can become extremely economical to shoot 9mm.

It will be even more economical since the rifle will be constantly jamming or in for warranty repair on a regular basis. You will save tons of money.

Is this some kind of joke? Lol I own a MRX bison in 223 and have put 1000 rounds through it without a single issue. They are well made firearms you guys are just toxic

We are not talking about the bison. It's harder to make a pistol round rifle reliability chamber and extract. A gunsmith and I tried to get my 9mm rifle to chamber and extract. We both gave up.

Why you think the market isn't flooded already.

is there something that a semi auto pcc does significantly different than a bolt action would in the chambering and extraction? I feel that the geometry is pretty much sorted out by now.

Good question, and I think you're not wrong - The difference lies in the magazines, and getting that right is going to be a major issue. "Proprietary magazines" means avoiding some of the Canadian whack-a-mole firearms legislation, but it also means reinventing the wheel.

While I'm not going to be holding my breath, I hope they do it, and I hope that they do it well.

...Just wanted to let everyone know that BCL has a 9mm Luger bolt action carbine design in the works. ...I have a very trustworthy source that informed me of this...

I am genuinely pleased to hear this, but it sounds too good to be true. How does your source know what's going on at BCL?

Just what the Canadian market needs... an 8 lb (before optic) pistol caliber rifle with a truck axle barrel.... (if they follow the ridiculous model of the Scout... if im lugging 9lbs + of rifle i might as well grab the 308).

IF it weighs 5-6 lbs and IF it takes Glock mags and IF they make it in 10mm or 357sig then MAYBE. The 300 blackout Scout was a disappointment... much like everything they turn out.

Well a semi operate a bolt faster than someone manually can operate. From when I was trying to get mine to work, you really had to work the bolt hard, and you still could get jams often. Due to round wanting to jump up out of the mag.

There are very limited bolt 9mm, to use to figure this out. Plus if you want proprietary mags, it would need to be something other than what is made, so it's something that needs to figure out.

BCL already designed a very reliable 20 round 223 magazine. Now although that may not seem like a big deal it is a huge engineering marvel for a company that usually just machines aluminum chassis. So I do think they could make a reliable 9mm bolt gun. I heard the information regarding this from someone that works in the company it is not made up I can assure you.

As far as the carbine I agree that their bison series of rifles is way to heavy. If they make a bolt action 9mm it needs to be lightweight and fun because after all it’s not a serious precision rifle.

223 is not 9mm. They just modifed an already been designed magazine and just made it not fit in STANG magwells. Hardly reinventing the wheel.

Have you built a PCC? Modifying a rifle that meant for a longer caliber for a smaller. Runs into a whole different set of problems. I'm not denying that they wont or can't make it as I know several ways they can, without changing too much.

But it be more than people want to spend.

I think they will be able to do it. And whenever all the Ruger PC-9s are banned the sub 2000 banned Fx9 banned etc… no one is going to care if the rifle is $1400 at that point. It would be a success no matter what. Especially if it is glock magazine compatible and has a standard 30 round magazine

Farmhand, if the dystopian ever brown s h i t stem continues as you suggest.... why would you think detachable magazines of any capacity, let alone 30 rounders will be allowed?

The good news is. it will likely take them years to develop and by then we should have a new govt of some sort or other....

I assume that by the time this rifle came out it would have 30 round mags. Liberals would be on the way out but of course almost all semi autos would be banned. Then the conservatives would get in. But I highly doubt that the conservatives will reverse any decision that the liberals made. Canada is in the toilet in every possible way
