Make up my mind? T3x Lite SS in 6.5 CM or 308 Win?

Have a feeling the 110gr Barnes at 3100-3200 fps does some good work too.

Those would be fun to experiment with along with the lightweight Hornady CX's, although I seem to remember another youtube video of a couple of guys testing 110 Blackout rated monos from a ruger American in .308win and they had a tough time keeping them intact at those speeds.
I'll see if I can find the video.

Ah I mean the 110gr TTSX but I know the video you linked there too! They expand so violently at 2300 fps impact speed for me, not surprised they come right apart!

Great philosophy for your son's big game rig. A bud of mine was doing the same thing with his lad and a Win 70 Classic I'd sold him back in the day. Hornady Light Recoil 125gr SST I think it was. Makes more sense than two different guns.

Buckmastr,

Most definitely!

This is stupid and I know it. But I'm really having a hard time choosing here.

Max range is 300 yards tops, so its not like long range ballistics matter.

Looking to go with 100gr TTSX and 127gr LRX out of the 6.5 or 110gr TTSX and 130gr TTSX from the 308.

Yeah they seem light, but light for caliber monos are pretty mean.

Sigh

Fir what you’re saying I would go with the 6.5 CM . Easy to load for and less recoil . I have a variety of 6.5s 7mm s and 308 s too That little 6.5 CM is a very NICE cartridge . But absolutely nothing wrong with 7-08s and 308 s ! That’s why I have them All . Lol 😂 RJ

Think you hit the nail on the head there with "get one of each, and a 7mm-08 too" Jim lol. Only way to roll.

Can't help coming back to "the 6.5 seems like a better bullet" in 110-130 form....but inside 350 meters does it even matter? Doubt it lol.

No it doesn’t matter Joel - SHOT PLACEMENT is what matters the most ! I just got a new CArms MESA FFT. Rifle in 7-08 that I think I’m getting pretty Fond of . My Dilemma now is WHAT scope to mount on it ? Lol Decisions EH . RJ

I believe you showed me that one? Or is this another CA rifle? Got a leading candidate for some glass yet?

I was thinking of the barrel life part for sure, but if I keep it to 200 rounds a year at a mild pace, should last a good 10 years plus before I start thinking about rebarreling at least. If its still here lol

Hunting.

I'd be lookin heavy barrel for target rifles but not really my thing. Thanks for making sure I knew that though!

Hope the barrel would be good enough to shoot 10 shot groups without a ton of time to cool down though, doing load development/zeroing. But apart from that, probably trying not to chew up a 6.5mm barrel too fast lol
I would think that the lightweight barrel would heat up pretty fast doing a 10 round group.
I know my Rem 783 6.5 CM with the HB would get hot fast after about 5 quick rounds.

They can heat up alright but a good/properly made barrel still keeps em in the same group. Assuming its floated too.

Wouldn't make a habit of that with a 6.5 but wouldn't wait an hour for a 10 shot group either.

yup, they’ll stay in the same group all right, albeit, it’ll be a big one.. lol

I don't have any 6.5 creed experience but my t3 lite in 308 is a hammer. I shoot the 150ttsx at 2980 fps and it is accurate and reliable. I haven't tried the 130 ttsx but I just may if I see some for a decent price. I've shot the 110vmax and the accuracy was very surprising. I'm talking sub 1/2 moa. Velocity was around 3200 iirc. Never did shoot anything with that load though.

I will say recoil with the 150ttsx is stout but it's a pretty hot load and the rifle only weighs 7lb2oz with scope. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice but if speed is what your after the 308 has more case capacity.

Hahaha indeed! If its a bad barrel and/or its touching the stock it sure will be! Even if you let it cool properly though a 10 shot group might just be a lot bigger than what people would like to imagine lol. But if a barrels throwin flyers....well.

Saw plenty of nice 10 shot groups though, including from Tikkas :)

Whoa! Surprised to be seeing those speeds from a 22.3" barrel, that's awesome! I believe you on the recoil though.
