BUDDY has a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 284 Win. It was a 280 AI but it got rechambered . Seems like a SILLY thing to do as the 280AI outperforms the 284W . RJ
I'm surprised there was enough meat in that barrel to clean up the 280 AI chamber. - dan

the 280 AI and win 284 are the same size hole

The 284 win has a rebated rim, the case body is a bigger diameter than the 280 AI.
He is talking about the chamber, not the bore.

the 280Ack , is there anything else , even factory loads
takes awhile for some
It's on the way to replace the 30-06
Lol, I never looked at the date.
While the 280AI is a good cartridge, it does require on to handload to keep it fed. It's a fringe chambering at best.
Based on that fact alone, it will never replace the 30-06 in popularity. Guess again and best be cutting down on the gummie intake.
The 280 Ackley is an outstanding hunting cartridge, years back you could say it was a Hand loaders cartridge but today with several Nosler (6) factory options, Federal has 4 loaded options, Hornady has 1 and 1 more on the way, Weatherby also going to load factory ammo, It’s becoming more mainstream.
One of my favourite hunting cartridges, my custom 280AI is what I grab most when heading out the door.

Where can you find factory loaded these days?
What’s asking price?
