280 AI - Does anyone else shoot this wildcat.

If I was given a choice of the same rifle in either .270 or .280 AI, I'd probably go with the boring old .270.

If I was given a choice of the same rifle in either .270 or .280 AI, I'd probably go with the boring old .270.

While the 280 AI intrigues me, I see it mostly favoured by Western Prov/States guys. Don’t think I’ve come across someone afield here in Ont with one after more then a few decades out there… .270Win on the other hand are plenty here in Ont.

A lot different talkin about 280ai in 2005 compared to 2023 lol. Things have changed a bit.

I still shoot a McMillan edge stocked r700 in 280ai with a 22” shillen barrel my dad(rembo) built for me in 2010. Will do 3100+ with a 145lrx over RL 22 in Nosler cases.

It comes close to the 7RM and you can fit one more round in most rifles. Makes a lot of sense IMO. Everyone has different priorities out there though. I like the idea.

Kimbers always have lots of lenght and thickness at the chamber end ! RJ

I have a 7 RMag and a 280 AI ! Choosing i would take the AI ! RJ
